A few years ago when we lived in Devon, some friends from Australia came to stay. We took them to the beautiful village of Clovelly on the north coast.
Having walked the steep cobbled path down to the harbour, we decided to stop for an ice-cream. After a while, my friend noticed her husband was in deep conversation with a lady.
Upon enquiring who she was, her husband replied that she had been a former employee in his company in Sydney, Australia who had left to fulfil her dream of undertaking a world tour and was currently en route from Russia to Canada via the UK.
I cannot begin to calculate the odds of such a meeting.
