Is This A Photo Of A Time Traveller?

Time traveller at South Fork Bridge in the early 1940s
You may possibly have seen this before, but I hadn't.

The photo above is from the 1940s and was taken at the reopening of the South Fork Bridge in Gold Bridge, B.C., Canada.

As far as I can tell it's a genuine photo and can also be seen on the Virtual Museum of Canada website showing 'Community Memories'. I got the photo from another source.

It all looks fine until you look closely at the man on the right taken from the photo. Somehow he doesn't quite fit with the other people at the scene.

The man's clothes look as if from a more modern age: the sunglasses, the top which appears to have a hood, the symbol on his t-shirt or sweater and so on.

The question therefore is: Is this man a time traveller? Surely not.

  1. This photo is so intriguing. We put it up some time ago, but I didn't realize it was at the virtual museum of canada. Does it look like he's holding something in his right hand?

  2. Although intriguing, this is not a time traveller.

Everything he is wearing, including the glasses are circa 1940s. A web search will turn up all you see. It just so happens that he was the stylish guy in the picture. Maybe a little ahead of the norm, but also likely very common in many Universities of the day.

The camera: Likely a Kodak folding camera.
