Coincidence and Synchronicity - Example 8

Gold's Hill Shaftesbury
Gold's Hill ShaftesburyThe strange thing is that when you become interested in coincidences they seem to be everywhere. Or perhaps you start looking for the slightest thing that may just be one.

This coincidence is about the 2010 Calendar that a friend brought us. I opened it up and the picture I saw was the one on the left. "That's exactly like the photo I took last year when we toured Dorset (England)," I said to my wife.

And sure enough when I checked it was very similar. The photo I took was the large one at the top of this post. Okay the calendar pic is brighter, they no doubt did some work on it to make it so, but it is an identical view: same cottages, same trees in the background and so on.

It's a small world or maybe everything is simply interlocked and we don't fully realise this.

"Do we see in these singular coincidences the purpose of a supernatural power to enforce the attention of mankind to the fact that there is something more in this world than mere matter."
Ignatius Donnelly, diary entry July 4, 1881.

  1. Wow, I love these examples of synchonicity. I could write a book about the amount of so called coincidences that I have experienced and I've enjoyed each and every one of them. I will certainly be back to read more about yours.

  2. Carol: Many thanks for the comments. I think once you are aware of coincidences they arrive more and more. And, as you say, they are enjoyable!

  3. Somebody introduced me to the idea of synchronicity today, which is what made me find your blog, and I'm very fascinated in this kind of thing now.

But discovering this particular post, I have an example of either coincidence or synchronicity of my own. About a second after this page loaded, my finger literally slipped and I accidentally clicked the image, enlarging it. This happens to be the exact same setting as a puzzle I did a couple of weeks ago, the last puzzle I completed. Strange, isn't it?

  4. Hello Rose Angel: Thanks for the comment and yes, that is a coincidence about the puzzle you have just completed. It's a small world!

Something similar happened when my mom and dad moved into a new house. My elderly great aunt who had never seen or heard any details about the new home sent a housewarming card. On the front of the card was a painting of an almost identical home to the one my parents just purchased. When they asked my great aunt about it, she said the card came from a pack of 8 random blank cards.

We always found that eerie but cool
