A Wrong Righted By A Coincidence

Old books

A coincidence sent to me by Paul which illustrates how wrongs sometimes can be righted - with the helping hand of a coincidence.

"I had a girlfriend, Lisa, during the summer between Freshman and Sophomore year in college. I went back to college, then returned for Thanksgiving and had one more date with her. Then I broke up with her via a letter in December (a huge mistake, but that's another story).

I was back in St. Louis 12 years later. I visited a book store in a mall about six miles from my parents' home. I visited the book store perhaps once every five years. When I went to stand in line to pay, there was Lisa, right in front of me! I asked her how often she visited the book store, which was even further from her home. She said that she had never been there before. We had dinner that evening and I apologized for breaking up with her so impersonally."

The Coincidence That The House He Bought Was Built By His Ancestor

I think today's coincidence or synchronicity story is quite remarkable and on several layers. See what you think.

Douglas Hunter lived in Australia but his family had been in New Zealand for at least five generations. He met and fell in love with Ros, a girl from England. They became partners and consequently had two children.

When Ros was pregnant, with their third child, the couple decided they would move to England. They agreed to settle somewhere in Suffolk, near to where Ros's parents lived.

Ros went on ahead to look for somewhere they could call home. One of the places she saw was an old disused chapel. It was for sale and was ripe for conversion into a family home. The chapel was in Rendham near to Aldeburgh in their chosen county of Suffolk.

Ros said, "I was pregnant and jet lagged but I thought it was wonderful. I loved the pillars inside and managed to ignore the problems."

The deal was done to buy the property and Douglas duly arrived from Australia to see what she had bought. He viewed the enormous dilapidated building with holes in the roof, broken windows and rows of pews. He looked at Ros and said one word, "Why?"

Then came what Douglas describes as a spooky surprise.

His mother came over from New Zealand for a visit and was looking through some of the very old documents that had been left in the chapel and made an amazing discovery. She found that the chapel was built with money from one of their ancestors!

As Douglas emphasised, "I didn't know any family connection with Suffolk."

Isaac Watts
His ancestor a Dr Isaac Watts was a wealthy man who was a prolific hymn writer including 'Joy To The World' and ' Our God Our Help In Ages Past'.

The chapel was built back in 1750s from a donation made by Dr Watts and has quite a history. John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, made visits in the 18th century. The building was finally deconsecrated in 1979 as the congregation gradually diminished in size.

Douglas and Ros converted the chapel into a wonderful five bedroom family home in which to bring up their children.

How strange that Douglas should meet Ros, a girl from Suffolk - where there just happened to be a link to his ancestors. Some links appear never to be broken.

It's a Small World Coincidence

Quite remarkable coincidences I noticed in an article in the Daily Mail newspaper. The story was from S. Turner, Kent, England.

"Driving from Sydney to Adelaide, while on holiday in Australia, we had a number of amazing coincidences.

On an overnight stop-off at a small town, we were surprised to see someone who is a regular at our local pub.

In another town, we ran into an old work colleague from London whom we hadn't seen for 20 years or more.

Then, finally in a shopping mall food court in Adelaide, who should be sitting at a nearby table but a man who caught the same train as me each morning on our commute into London. He and his wife were on a cruise and has only just arrived in Adelaide that day. Small world indeed!"

At Odds of Five Million to One the Money Lost From Her Bra Was returned to Her

A strange  short coincidence style story from the archives of  The Fort Scott Tribune.

Casa Grande, Arizona: A housewife has recovered a roll of $230 in bills after it travelled 13 days in a sewer.

Rose Mary Sotelo told city officials she was cleaning her toilet on July 3rd, and when she reached to flush it, the money dropped from her bra and was flushed down the drain.

Officials said she had one chance in five million of recovering the money.

On Wednesday, however, Harvey Swearingen, a sewerage employee, happened to turn off the sewerage chopper at the disposal plant three miles from Mrs. Sotelo's home.

He was amazed to find neatly rolled $5 and $10 bills, totalling $230, with a rubber band still holding them intact.

Of course the story has almost more questions than answers. Why, for example, was Rose carrying money in her bra - especially when cleaning the toilet? But, whatever, her money was returned - sometimes we need belief to bring about miracles.

The Remarkable Coincidence From World War 2

A quite remarkable coincidence story from my cuttings. This one is from Mr V.L. Coombes of Devon, England and features his brother in World War 2.

My brother Murray was in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry and fought right through the North African campaign. Subsequently his unit was sent to join the fighting in Italy.

He was riding in a convoy to Monte Cassino when a couple of enemy planes strafed the lorries.

Murray threw himself into a ditch at the side of the road. However, it was already occupied by a soldier lying face down in the mud.

When the bullets stopped whizzing overhead, the original resident turned around and said, "Hello Mur, nice of you to drop in!"

Despite the muddy face, Murray recognised him as the lad who, years before when children, had spent years sitting beside him in a double desk in our small school and whom he had not seen since the day they left. Now, there's a coincidence!

Three Simple Coincidences in Twenty Minutes

You'll find many coincidences on the pages of this blog, some very elaborate and mind blowing but sometimes the simple examples stop and make you think. I had three such coincidences in about twenty minutes.

Firstly I started writing an email and, at exactly the same time, an inward email dinged and it was from the very person I was about to email - both the emails were timed at 4:14.

About 15 minutes later I mentioned to my wife that I was expecting a parcel in the next few days - something I had ordered for my grandson. As soon as I said this the doorbell rung - and there was my parcel arriving early.

Later I was thinking I wanted to show a neighbour a photo I had taken of his garden (as above). At that very moment my wife said she was just popping out to visit the very same neighbour.

Okay, the coincidences are hardly that mind blowing, but isn't it strange how such things happen and usually in a cluster - often in threes.

On some days it's almost like we are switched on to synchronicity while on others we aren't in tune.

BMW Motorcycle Owners Met By Coincidence

Here's a coincidence from a reader which I never got round to publishing . So here we go now.

"I was in New York on holiday from London. I saw a man with a BMW motorcycle which was exactly the same model as the one I owned in London. We chatted a bit and I went on my way.

A few months later I was riding my BMW motorcycle in London and stopped at a set of traffic lights. Waiting to cross the road on foot was the man that I had spoken to in New York that had the same model BMW motorcycle!

Lanzarote And Small Coincidences

Lanzarote
I hadn't been experiencing many coincidences / synchronicity moments recently - must have been out of sync with the world or something!

I decided my wife and I needed a break so we went off to Lanzarote to get some proper sunshine and to switch off from computers and the like.

We arrived in the Canary Islands and wondered if we'd made the right choice for our destination. On our first morning we wandered down to the sea front and sat on a public seat. I snapped a photo of the beach and sea and then, for some reason, randomly turned to my right and took a photo of the promenade.

I checked the photo and noticed that the woman in the centre of the photo was wearing a t-shirt with a large '76' on the front.

I have written, probably many times, how 76 or 67 has occurred in my life over and over, almost symbolising good things. So I took the t-shirt to be sign that we had made the right choice.

Then when we started walking my wife said, "Do you realise that our suite number is also a 76 or a 67?"

I hadn't, but our suite was number 4216. So 4+2=6 and 1+6=7. So 67.

But also 4+2+1 =7 and the remaining 6 =76.

So all was well with Lanzarote!

We wandered along the sea front for a few miles and ended up by Arrecife Airport, which is right on the coast. The planes were arriving from the direction of the sea. It was interesting to see them arrive very low above our heads.

My wife said, "I wonder when the next plane will be as I'd like to see it land." At that precise moment a couple on bikes stopped next to us and, out of the blue, the man said to us, "Do you want know when the next plane is landing?"

We said we did. He got out his phone where he had an app and could tell when the next plane was due, and even had a picture as to what it looked like plus where it had come from. I took the photo below of that expected plane.

My wife's question was answered!

After this similar 'little' coincidences / synchros seemed to keep popping up over and over. So the break in Lanzarote turned out to be a positive experience.

Graveyard Coincidence Plus Sensing The Future

Headstones in a cemetery

Here's a story I received recently. I guess you could say it's coincidence or synchronicity, but it is also about following a feeling, premonition or maybe you may say guidance. I have edited the story slightly, but the meaning and content are the same.

Over the past year I have lost several people, but the most important were Thomas Joseph Williams (surrogate father) and his son Daniel Adam Williams.

Danny was my closest friend from the age of 10 till he was killed in a horrible accident in July 2016. He was two weeks away from his 33rd birthday.

On his birthday, July 27th, I left work via my normal route home. About a mile into my trip I had an urge to take a side road - that wasn't a shortcut - and one I had never been on previously. I turned, went down another mile or so, and there was a small cemetery on the left. I felt compelled to stop for some reason.

I'm a rock-hound and love searching for arrowheads. As soon as I stepped out I saw this brilliant raw piece of white and purple agate. A rare find for me.

I walked from headstone to headstone until I came to the last one... ADA VIRGINIA WILLIAMS (I interpreted this to A DANIEL.ADAM WILLIAMS). Her headstone was the only Williams, and was the only one made from the same stone as I had just found. The stone now resides on my mantelpiece.

The next day I researched Ada Williams and found that her maiden name was Thomas (the first name of my surrogate father!) - Ada Virginia Thomas Williams ... Thank you ma'am.

SENSING THE FUTURE

My blogging friends, the award winning authors Trish and Rob Macgregor, have a new book out on the 10th of January (13th of January in the UK). The book is called Sensing the Future. This is how it is described on Amazon:

In Sensing the Future, well-known paranormal experts and authors Trish and Rob MacGregor unravel the mystery around precognition to help readers develop their psychic abilities.

Precognition is one of the least understood but most commonly occurring psychic experiences. At one time or another, most people have had minor experiences with synchronicity or having a feeling about a future event that came true, but few understand how it happened or how to do it again. With Sensing the Future, readers learn to enhance this innate power to benefit their lives.

Trish and Rob provide tips and simple ways to coax answers to your life questions out of your dreams, and how to increase awareness of the inner realm in everyday life. They also explain the most common methods for future prediction - astrology, the tarot, numerology and stichomacy.

Along the way, Trish and Rob give hundreds of examples from history when people predicted the future, from scientists to novelists and spiritual leaders, as well as personal accounts from their own experiences and those of friends and family.

An important question many wonder after a precognitive event is whether our lives are truly governed by free will or destiny. If you saw the future and reacted, did you change the future through your own free will? Or was it destiny? If you're one of the curious seeking an answer, find out for yourself in Sensing the Future.

Death Has A Preference For Birthdays!

William Shakespeare born and died on same day
I saw in a couple of newspapers articles recently about of a gentleman called Jimmy Newell. He was quoted as being, "partly responsible for computerisation of the bank industry, and is believed to be behind the first hole in the wall cash machine in London and was described as a World War Two computer pioneer."

But it wasn't this that solely interested me.

Jimmy was born at midday on October 11, 1913 and he died, at the age of 103, at midday October 11, 2016!

According to the statisticians the odds of dying at the same day and time you were born are approximately 200 million to one. So quite a coincidence.

This interested me as a while back I wrote the following post on the same subject:

I was doing some research on Sir Kenelm Digby, who lived in England in the 1600s. I don't suppose many will have heard of him. Here's Wikipedia's description is:

"Sir Kenelm Digby, (born June 11, 1603, Gayhurst, Buckinghamshire, England - died June 11, 1665, London), English courtier, philosopher, diplomat, and scientist of the reign of Charles I."

What I noticed was that he was born and died on the same day i.e. 11th of June. His tombstone even stresses this fact:

Under this tomb the matchless Digby lies,
Digby the great, the valiant, and the wise:
This age's wonder for his noble parts,
Skilled in nix tongues, and learned in all the arts:
Born on the day he died, the eleventh of June
On which he bravely fought at Scanderoon;
'Tis rare that one and the same day should be
His day of birth, of death and victory.

I also remembered that William Shakespeare was also born and died on the same day: the 23rd of April (though some historians have differing opinions). "So," I wondered, "Is there any meaning to these same day births and deaths?" And this started me going off on a side-track from Kenelm Digby.

The first thing I found was some research done in Switzerland. They headed this: Death has a preference for birthdays - an analysis of death time series. They discovered that you are 14% more likely to die on your birthday than on any other day of the year! How weird is that! Source.

The study says, "We analyzed data from the Swiss mortality statistics 1969–2008. Deaths below the age of 1 were excluded from the analysis. Time series of frequencies of deaths were based on differences between the day of death and the day of birth."

One of their conclusions was: "In general, birthdays do not evoke a postponement mechanism but appear to end up in a lethal way more frequently than expected."

At first you might think that those close to dying might 'hang on' for their birthday for some reason or other - but the researchers found this not to be the case. As they put it: "Something on your birthday kills you." Now that could put a damper on birthday parties!

I must admit I haven't found anything of any great meaning to dying on your birthday but here's a list of some of those who have the same birthday and death dates:

Ingrid Bergman
Ingrid Bergman: 29th of August
George Washington Carver: 5th of January
Walter Diemer: 8th of January
Allen Drury: 2nd of September
Sir Kenelm Digby: 11th of July
Betty Friedan: 4th of February
Alfred Kazin: 5th of June
George 'Machine Gun' Kelly: 17th of July
Johnny Longden: 14th of February
Levi P Morton: 16th of May
Lawrence Oates: 17th of March
Jean Piccard: 28th of January
Swede Risberg: 13th of October
Kamehameha V: 11th of December

If death does have a preference for birthdays, as the Swiss research shows, it might just pose the question: Can we influence the day of our death? Here's an illustration how we just might.

The economists Joshua Gans and Andrew Leigh published a paper in 2006 which examined the effect on death rates following a change in Australian tax law.

In 1978 the Australian government decided to abolish estate taxes - or inheritance tax. The estates of anyone who died on or after 1 July 1979 would escape tax. The estates of anyone who died before that date would not. The data suggests a significant number of deaths were 'postponed' long enough to avoid paying tax.

"If the very ill are able to move their date of death forwards as well as backwards," says Joshua Gans, "any country that introduces an inheritance tax should expect a spike in the death rate in the week before such a law takes effect."

But, whatever, go careful when it's your birthday!

World War 2 Coincidence In Cologne

Cologne 1945

This coincidence story is by joynsonatkinson and is taken from WW2 People's War. This is an online archive of wartime memories contributed by members of the public and gathered by the BBC. The archive can be found here.

In late 1946 I was walking along the embankment of the river Rhine in the much bombed city of Cologne. I was wearing my army uniform for security reasons. I walked along the embankment with the Holenz-Holenz Bridge, now a twisted mass to my rear. The impressive spires of Cologne Cathedral were to my front.

Walking towards me was a German gentleman leading a very beautiful German Shepherd dog. I stooped to pat the dog and its master exclaimed, "Rex".

He then asked me if I was still in the army. I replied saying that I had recently been released after serving seven years.

He then inquired if I had ever served in the Channel Islands. I replied that I had trained in Alderney.

He then looked at me closely and his face broke into a huge smile. Shaking my hand vigorously he exclaimed, "I saw your photograph in the chemist's shop in St Anne's, Alderney."

My photograph, along with my comrade Michael and some other soldiers, had been taken outside St Anne's Church. It had been 'blown up' to half full size and had been exhibited in the chemist's shop window. A truly remarkable coincidence.

The Teacher's Surprising Double Coincidence

From my clippings a double coincidence by David Mann.

When I began my teaching career, I was lucky enough to be able to teach English at Craigroyston High School.

One day while preparing for a lesson, I decided to write ten sentences for the children to copy down and then put the apostrophe in the correct place. Among the sentences was: COLIN HAS STOLEN ANDYS PEN.

I knew that the children would laugh at that because, although they were pleasant characters, Colin Reilly was invariably well behaved, while Andy Henderson could be a bit naughty at times.

A couple of hours later, I arrived at the classroom for my lesson, and found there was silly behaviour going on, so I asked what it was all about.

"Colin has just taken Andy's pen, sir!" a helpful voice called out. "Colin is naughtier than you think!"

I stared in amazement at the next sentence in my list: "COLIN HAS STOLEN ANDYS PEN".

When I told the children, they would not believe me until I showed them the piece if paper.

Thirty-four years later, my wife and I were standing at the back of a long queue at London City airport, waiting to board a plane to Edinburgh.

We began to talk to an elderly couple in front of us. For some reason, I thought I'd mention the apostrophe story.

Just after I had told the story, a guy in his 40s, who had turned round a few times during it, suddenly said: "Mr Mann! I am Colin Rielly!"

I'm sure anybody could imagine my surprise.

Meeting At The Royal Albert Hall Coincidence

Royal Albert Hall, London
Royal Albert Hall, London
Here's another remarkable coincidence from my cuttings - by Brenda Wood. All of the stars must have been in the right place on the night mentioned!

Four of us - old colleagues now retired - meet once a month.

On one occasion we were discussing a certain lady we had all worked with but none of us could remember her name.

A few weeks later a couple of us went on a weekend trip to London, which included a carol concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

Halfway down the motorway my friend Joan suddenly blurted out without any warning: "Gail Trantor!" This was the name of the lady we couldn't remember a few weeks before.

When we were shown to our seats in the stalls we found that, due to leg space restrictions, we were very uncomfortable.

An attendant very kindly reseated us in a box. Looking over the balcony to the box on our left, I saw a lady that looked familiar - could it be Gail Trantor?

We quickly dismissed this as being too ridiculous a coincidence, but a few minutes later I felt a tap on my shoulder. A young girl said, "Excuse me, but my mother in the next box thinks she knows you,"

Yes, amazingly it was Gail, making a fleeting visit to London to see her daughter who lived in London.

Gail now lives in Spain. We could hardly believe it!

A Remarkable Coincidence Spanning Australia And England And 50 Years

A camp site in Kalgoorlie, Australia
A caravan camp site in Kalgoorlie, Australia
Here's a remarkable coincidence story involving two couples who met up twice, completely by coincidence - or perhaps fate. They must surely have been meant to meet, against all the odds. The story, from my cuttings, is by Richard Francis from Hampshire in England.

In 2004, my wife, Helen, and I embarked on a caravan tour of Australia. We arrived in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia and Helen went to do the laundry in the campsite launderette,

An Australian lady joined her and they started chatting. Helen, who is from Edinburgh but has lived in England for more than 50 years, noticed a slight Scottish brogue in the Aussie twang, so the conversation went something like this.

Helen: "Where are you originally from?"

Lady, "Edinburgh."

Helen, "So am I. Which part?"

Lady, "South side."

Helen, "Me, too. Which school did you go to?"

Lady, "Preston Street."

Helen, "So did I. How old are you?"

Lady, "Sixty-five."

Helen, "So am I!"

Lady: What was your maiden name?"

Helen, "Turner."

The lady burst into tears and said, "I'm Marion Purvis, and I was your best friend at primary school."

Marion had emigrated to Australia when she was aged 15.

We parted company the next day after much Chardonnay and many memories, us to continue east and Marion and her husband to travel west.

Six months later, we arrived at Exmouth, Western Australia, and after setting up camp, went for a walk.

On our return, we found a bunch of flowers on our table together with a note: it was from Marion and her husband who had coincidentally arrived at the same place after several thousand miles. More wine!

X-Ray Shows Identical Injuries To twins

Werribee, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Werribee Park, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
I came across this coincidence in The Age newspaper. The story involves an X-ray and, as a further coincidence, minutes after I had finished writing this post, my local hospital unexpectedly phoned me to make an X-ray appointment for myself! (Just a routine check-up)

Coincidence Follows Collision

Werribee [Australia]: An X-ray examination of injuries in a recent motor accident at Wirribee by William and Henry Sadler, twins, aged 20 years, of the Metropolitan Board's farm, has revealed that their injuries are exactly the same.

Both had a broken pelvis, the breaks being identical, and internal injuries are also the same.

The twins are inmates of a private hospital at Werribee, and are making satisfactory progress. They were travelling in a motor car to Geelong when their car came into collision with another car, which had already been involved in a collision. A third person in the Sadler's car had a leg broken.

The Birth Date Prediction Coincidence

Baby clip art

A coincidence story from April - predicting a birth date, well probably!

We married two years ago and were renovating a house we had moved into. At the time I was pregnant so my husband did most of the heavy work, while I supervised! He was working in what was to be our bedroom and there was a boarded up fireplace, but the previous owners hadn't done a very good job of it.

My husband knocked in the boarded up part so he could re-plaster the area to make it all smooth with the rest of the wall. Behind the board was part of a newspaper, at the top was the date of June 23 (1970).

Nothing too strange in this but our baby was born a few months later on June 23rd. I don't know if this was some kind of prediction or an omen. We called the baby June (it was a girl!) and I'm called April. I'm pregnant again but I can't see us calling a son or daughter February!

~ April

Another coincidence for me: my mother's birthday was also the 23rd of June. Oh, and of course, that is also Brexit voting day when us in the UK vote on whether we should leave the European Union. (Yes?!)

A Minute Either Way And This Coincidence Would Never Have Happened

Ryanair plane taking off

It's strange how sometimes we meet up with someone from the past as if it was destined to be. Who knows the reason: closure perhaps or to reignite the friendship? Here's such an event, a coincidence if you like, that brought two people together for a brief meeting. The story is by Cecil Webb.

I met my future wife, Doreen, at Heathrow airport when she was flying with Hunting-Clan Airlines.

I had a great (female) friend who worked for another airline, but when I met Doreen our friendship faded as we found other interests,

I left Heathrow and, after Doreen and I married, I was working at Gatwick airport and Doreen was in the crew rostering office of British United Airways that was formed after Freddie Laker drew various independent airlines together, including HCA.

During the late Sixties I had to travel to Heathrow for a meeting. I stopped at a roundabout to give way to another vehicle and the driver and I looked at each other in astonishment.

It was my old friend from Heathrow and, what was more, we were driving similar vehicles. I followed her into a lay-by and we both got out and, after a friendly hug, we exchanged updates of the past ten years during which we had both married.

I was running late for the meeting and she was rushing to the airport to meet her husband coming off a shift. We said a brief farewell and never thought of exchanging phone numbers or addresses.

If I had arrived at that roundabout a minute earlier, or a minute later our paths would never have crossed.

A Curious Coincidence About The Warning Of World War 2

Soldiers of the German Wehrmacht at the border
crossing between Poland and the Free City of Danzig, 1 September 1939
Here's a letter I came across that was sent to The Glasgow Herald on July 17, 1939. It is headed "A Curious Coincidence". (As a side note World War 2 began on the 1st of September 1939.) Here's the letter:

Sirs, It is a well known fact that history has a habit of repeating itself. and curious coincidences do occur. I write to draw attention to the fact that on July 20 to 27 1914, the British Medical Association met in Aberdeen. Before the meetings were over doctors were called away for military service in the Great War [World War 1].

Within a week's time the British Medical Association again meets in Aberdeen - the first since 1914. Does this interesting coincidence presage an approaching Armageddon?

The European situation today is far more dangerous for us than in July 1914. The existence of the British Empire is at stake. Within weeks we could be in a life-and -death struggle with Germany, and no mercy will ever be shown us this time. If the dragon's teeth get a grip of this country, those patriotic men and women who say they cannot give time for National Service, as it interferes with their golf, tennis etc. will sing a different tune, it they sing at all.

Many will regret that Mr Churchill's warning went unheeded for years, that conscription was not introduced last September, and that the Minister of Propaganda, to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, was not in being a year ago instead of at the last minute when it seems all too late.

My Mallorca Holiday Coincidences

Mallorca

I have been away for just over two weeks in Mallorca - with no Internet and, yes, it is possible to live without it! Usually when I travel there are a few coincidences, or synchronicity moments but I struggled to notice many this time. There were a few like ...

While reading a soul chilling thriller [well, that's what the cover stated] a new person was introduced to the story and she worked for an estate /property company called Perry-Hayes - my surname being Perry and Hayes being the town where I lived as a child and teenager until I left home. I was a slightly impressed by this 'coincidence'. I then notice that the name first appeared on page 169, so 168 and 169 were open when I read this.

1+6+8=15 and 1+5 = 6
1+6+9=16 and 1+6 = 7

So I have my 'magic number' as in the title of this blog i.e. 67.

Perry-Hayes

The book, by the way was The Stolen Ones by Richard Montanari.

One day while away it started to rain first thing, so after breakfast we waited for the rain to stop. It lasted about 90 minutes. I was thinking of numbers again - see what 'useful' things you can do without the Internet! Anyway, I noticed our room number, 405 added up to 9 and that the name of our hotel also had 9 letters.

We arrived at our hotel on 4/5/2016 - 4+5+2+0+1+6 = 18 and 1+8 =9

So 9's seemed to the number for our holiday. "Ah, but what about the book where I read Perry-Hayes," I wondered. I looked at the ISBN number: 978-0-7515-4928-7 ... added the numbers and they total 72 and 7+2 =9.

I won't bore you with any more examples ... there's probably nothing too significant about any of this but it kept me amused for a little while.
