Street Art In A Cornish Town

Cornwall art tin miners

A simple off subject post today. I saw these examples of street art in my local town in Cornwall and their simplicity appealed to me.

I guess the artwork above shows a Cornish tin miner, but to the right there appears to be soldiers perhaps from World War I.

Below the mother and child are crying tears of blood, maybe associated with the loss of life.

And the third: gardening? allotments? The women or girls are wearing ties - associated with some sort of uniform?

Whatever the interpretation they brighten a dismal wall and, with a bit of luck, us too.

Street Art Or Graffiti In Malta

Street art Sliema Malta

Walking one evening while in Malta I saw the above street art as we crossed the road at a pedestrian crossing in Sliema.  The fish eating, or swallowing the man's head amused me as, of course, did the name 'Perry' underneath.

Graffiti in Malta

During our stay we discovered a further selection of street art - or some would call it graffiti. Some of it is excellent. Most were on walls but the final example was on a kind of large electrical box and as I took the photo two policemen on motorbikes slowed down to see what I was doing - as they couldn't see the picture from the road. I must have a suspicious look about me!

Street art in Sliema

Thee three blue pictures were all together, perhaps the artist is concerned that Malta is sinking below the sea. The one above though reminded me of my grandson, as we have a photo of him swimming under water when he was just a few months old.

Love is strange street art

And I guess, love can be strange.

That's it for today.

Ants In The Pursuit Of Happiness

Pursuit of Happiness graffiti
In principle I suppose I don't approve of graffiti but sometimes it can be amusing or even meaningful and artistic.

I saw these graffiti, or maybe it's street art, examples in Crete. The first is on rock face steps which have the legend 'This way for Pursuit Of Happiness'. The ants have certainly taken this message to heart. There is a constant stream of them crossing the words - as can be seen by the enlarged section of the photo below. They are even taking their young with them in pursuit of happiness!

But some street art is a bit classier as these two from someone who signs as Gouro. Both found on walls in Crete.
