Hitting The Heights With The Stars In Somerset

Minehead, Somerset, England
Minehead, Somerset, England
I've been away for a short holiday to Minehead, Somerset. As my blogging friend Daz, from Just Watching The Wheels Go Round, often mentions gigs he has seen over in Australia, I thought I'd better show a few of the ones I saw while away.

Fireman Sam live on stage

Yes, it really is Fireman Sam live on stage - but there was much more to follow ...

Barney the Dinosaur on stage

... Yep, it's Barney the Dinosaur - who seems to have got at least one girl dancing excitedly on stage, and there's more ...

Thomas the Tank Engine live on stage

... Thomas the Tank Engine live - how do they manage that! And on the same evening, on another stage, we saw ...

Sesame Street characters on stage

... the Sesame Street characters and - if that wasn't enough - on the next evening there was a pantomime ...

Beauty and the Beast pantomime

... of Beauty and the Beast. Not too sure why this necessitated cupcakes, teapots and cups as hats but the audience liked it - and so did I.

This was, of course, all really for children and my VIP, small grandson Samuel, had a good time, though his three month old sister perhaps wasn't quite so impressed. Pantomimes seem to be a British thing and they are the first taste of the theatre for many children - and watching something live is always special.

Karin and I enjoyed our week in Minehead, Somerset. The sun shone for us. The sky was blue and we managed a couple of walks along a small part of the West Somerset Coastal Path.

There were no coincidences or synchronicities while we were away but, being with all of my family, was just perfect. I didn't need anything else. Oh, nearly forgot ...

Bob the Builder on stage

... Bob the Builder was there too. Life doesn't get much better!

Place Your Cosmic Order For Whatever You Want

Steps to success and wealth

Cancer astrology
The newspaper I often read has an astrology column. I'm not much into these sort of predictions as they are too general - unless, of course, it's good news, then I become a believer! Mainly because I think we attract what we believe and visualise.

I looked at my Cancer star sign a couple of days ago - I'm actually on the cusp being born on July 23rd, and some readings put me into Leo. That's not really important because the reading could be applicable to anyone. This is what it reads:

"Cosmic Ordering? It is just what the doctor ordered. The Secret? Everyone should know about it! The Law of Attraction? More reliable than the law of gravity! Another, less fashionable word for all this is 'prayer'. Never mind to whom or to what, just make contact with the power that put you here. Sincerely request help and support. Then don't be too fussy about the particular form this must take. Sometimes the cosmos has a smarter idea of what' needed than we have. This will be a good weekend"

What the writer has said almost sums up what I believe: ask and we get, but put no restrictions on how this should come to us. The Universe does indeed work in mysterious ways, so don't hamper it by laying down limitations.

Give out thoughts and pictures of what you want and be amazed at the way, whatever it is actually arrives - how it does so isn't of concern. Just believe that it will happen to the good to all concerned.

Simplistic? Probably, but who said life has to be difficult?

Do We Have Time To Stand And Stare

Leisure
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars,
like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this is if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

70 Million To 1 Odds Against This Happening

Identical twins
Joshua reaches out to touch his identical twin James
Sharon Turner recently gave birth to quads, but with an added bonus - they were two sets of identical twins. The chance of this happening are pretty remote, the experts quote the odds of being 70 million to 1.

Sharon and her husband, Julian, from Berkshire in England say, "It's like a dream."

Julian Turner, one of triplets himself, was at the birth and described it as being, "Slightly like an out of body experience. Being there and watching was unreal."

When Sharon first realised she was pregnant they believed they were having just the one baby. It wasn't until the 12-week scan that the nurses told them they were expecting quadruplets. They were stunned but overjoyed. The doctors, however, had a different reaction.

According to a Daily Mail report specialists at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford gave them three options: get rid of all of them, get rid of two of them or keep them.

Mrs Turner said of this, "There was no way we could get rid of them. We were happy to let nature take its course."

Things with the birth didn't go smoothly. The doctors discovered that Sharon - who was not due to give birth until mid June - had pre-eclampsia so on March 30th an emergency caesarean had to be carried out.

James, Joshua, Lauren and Emily were born safely, weighing in at just over 2lbs each. Fortunately all of the babies have survived and are doing well. Their father said, "We are ecstatic, words can't describe the feeling. It's all good news. They are doing well and getting bigger and stronger which is the main thing."

Now comes the difficult bit, shopping they say is bewildering. Julian said of this, "I suppose it starts to hit home when you go to Mothercare. When you tell the staff you're having four, they just look at you blankly."

The Perfect Day To Find A White Feather On Her Mother's Grave

White feather on grave

Today's synchronicity or coincidence story is by Barbara J from New Zealand which took place while she was visiting her mother's grave in England.

Both of my parents died before I was 8 years old and I was adopted, along with my younger brother, by a lovely couple. At that time I was living in England but we soon all emigrated as a family to New Zealand.

Over the years I made a life for myself in New Zealand and eventually got married to a wonderful man and was happy for 27 years until he sadly died in April of 2011.

It was a sad time but along with my brother and his wife we decided to take a trip back to England to see where we were brought up as young children, and also to visit my birth mother's grave in North Shields.

I remembered the name of the cemetery but when we visited we were unable to find a headstone bearing my mother's name. There was an information office so we asked the assistant for help. The only thing we could tell her was our mother's full name, we weren't sure of dates or anything else.

After about ten minutes the assistant returned and said she had traced my mother. She asked me if I knew what day it was. I stupidly replied, "Wednesday."

"No," she said, "I mean the date."

I answered that I wasn't sure.

She said, "It is the 15th of May. Does that mean anything to you?"

I told her it didn't.

"Today is the date your mother was buried here at the cemetery." She added, "You must be here for a reason."

I don't know why I chose that particular day to seek out my mother, after travelling all of the way from New Zealand. It must have been meant to be.

~ Barbara J.

P.S. I have to add that there was a large, but straggly, white feather on her grave.

A Timely Purely By Chance Coincidence

Clock 1:23 and 4:56

I rarely wear a watch and try not to be too controlled by time. I also usually sleep well at night.

This is why I make those two statements: Last night I went to bed as usual and nodded off to sleep quite quickly but I woke up and, when I did so, glanced at the digital clock. It was 1:23. I thought it a bit odd but was soon snoring away again - I don't really snore, of course, it's all in my wife's imagination. Anyway, I awoke a second time and again looked at the clock for some reason. This time it was 4:56.

Now I've heard about people seeing several 1s - 111, 11:11 and so on, but never much about 123456.

I tried searching Google for any explanations, but all I could find was on the Faeries and Angels Network. They write:

"Seeing 1:23 or 4:56 (numbers that count upwards like '1,2,3') - Simplify your life. Let go of thoughts related to 'time'. Let go of the old! De-clutter your life. Clean and organize your home or work space. Take a deep breath. Be present in the moment."

This wasn't much help. As I've said I'm not too bothered about time and the clutter I may have in my office isn't real clutter it's, er, important stuff I might need to refer to sometime - possibly.

Oh well, that's it. Message received but not understood! Or it might just have been one of those 'purely by chance coincidences' I've been reading about. Can you believe it - some people claim they have experienced such things. Quite remarkable.

Gyles Brandreth And The Oscar Wilde Book Coincidence

Giles Brandreth

Gyles Brandreth is a British writer, broadcaster, actor and former Conservative Member of Parliament. Nowadays he is also an after-dinner speaker - and recently did his bit at a literary lunch.

He told a story about how he presented a copy of his latest Oscar Wilde novel - he has done a series of them - to a friend in Paris, France.

Several days later he found the very same book in the second hand section of a local bookshop - quite a coincidence. Or maybe the book was simply not to his friend's taste - but, whatever, it's a mystery as to how it travelled all the way from Paris.

Gyles said about this, "So I bought it and popped it in the post back to him with  a new inscription which read: 'To Gill with even greater admiration and love'"

His wife, Michele, has confirmed that the story is 'totally true'.

The inspiration to write the Oscar Wilde books also came about by coincidence.

Oscar Wilde
Gyles explains: "About ten years ago, in the late 1990s, by chance, I picked up a copy of 'Memories and Adventures', the autobiography of Arthur Conan Doyle (the Sherlock Holmes author), and discovered, on page 94, that Arthur Conan Doyle and Oscar Wilde were friends. I was amazed. It would be hard to imagine an odder couple."

From this came the idea for a series of books. The theme being how:

"Conan Doyle quickly discovers that when it comes to the art and craft of amateur sleuthing Oscar Wilde has very little to learn from Sherlock Holmes. Wilde is overweight and apparently indolent, but his mind is amazing; his intellect is as sharp as his wit. Oscar Wilde, in his own way, is as brilliant as Sherlock Holmes - and just as Holmes had his weakness for cocaine, Wilde has his weaknesses, too."

It seems that inspiration for what we want to do or achieve is all around us.
