The Talisman That Attracts Money

Paper money (bills) from around the world
Money from around the world
Over the years I've dabbled in many things: from yoga to Rosicrucians, magic to religions, psychology to philosophy and so on. I've always felt there was something else besides what scientists tell us.

I've often said that it's no use just reading about something, it has to be put into practice. This way it's possible to discover for ourselves as to whether, what we read or have been told, has some relevance - or is just a load of old codswallop.

Following this principle, when we first met, I made my wife a talisman for attracting money. I followed the instructions as per David Conway's book Magic (I believe it is now out of print) and handed it to my wife who immediately put this in her purse. She must have either thought positive about the talisman, and the fact that it might work - or that I was a complete fruit and nut case! Either way, that week she attracted lots of money.

This included a massive bonus from her work, which was entirely unexpected, and the conditions of her getting this were virtually 'impossible.' I reckon it might have been this that made her think I was a reasonable bet!

She still carries this talisman in her purse, but it looks a bit creased now.

Okay, many will think that things like a talisman or lucky charm are absolutely rubbish. Fair enough, each to their own, but scientists have said that there might actually be something in this 'lucky' business.

The University of Cologne has done a test, with some of their students. They put them on a golfing putting green to find out who got the best results. Prior to this the researchers told half of the students individually that they would be playing with a lucky ball. The other half were just handed a golf ball without comment.

The students with a 'lucky' ball sank 6.4 putts out of 10. Remarkably this was an average of nearly two more than the other players in the experiment.

This may not be conclusive evidence, but the co-author of the research, Lysann Damisch did admit, "Our results suggest that the activation of a superstition can indeed yield performance improving effects."

A professor of psychology at Connecticut College added that, "Simply being told this is a lucky ball is sufficient to affect performance."

This may be slightly different from my wife's money talisman. The golfers were in control to a degree. Whereas my wife simply had to believe that something would happen and the universe would do the rest. And that's the key word for me - believe.

Belief makes things happen and brings about those situations - coincidences if you like - which can result in amazing things happening (sometimes!).

10 Posts Featuring Money In Synchronicity And Magic

Worldwide paper money and notes

Today I have collated ten 67 Not Out posts which feature money: attracting money, seed money, synchronicity in money, a money talisman and so on. I've always believed that money can go hand in hand with spirituality and magic. It's an essential of life, whether we like this idea or not, so why shouldn't we accumulate what cash we can. If nothing else, think of the positive side and the good that can be done with money.

The Tickling Ghosts

two elderly sisters - the tickling ghosts

I came across an interview given by author David Conway. He wrote, amongst others, a very informative book called Magic: An Occult Primer which I read in the early 1970s. I still have the book today and, in the post Magic Talisman Attracts Money, I tell of how talismans I made - following David's instructions - attracted lots of money to my wife and myself.

Anyway, in the interview, David talks of an experience he had as a child.

"Every night after my mother put me to bed, two elderly ladies would appear at my bedside.  The taller one would stand back a little, while her companion made a big show of nodding and smiling and blowing kisses in my direction. At some point one of them, usually the taller woman, would lean over and tickle me.

Every evening without fail, thin, bony fingers would reach down and begin the same relentless tickling while I, powerless to stop it, thrashed about in bed.

Throughout it all my tormentor's expression stayed blank, disconcertingly so, with no hint of a smirk or scowl, just a mindless, unflinching resolve.  Apparently my screams could be heard outside in the street.

Night after night my parents would try to persuade me it was all a bad dream, but some weeks later I was taken off to see our elderly family doctor."

David explained to the doctor what he saw:

"I went on to describe them in detail and even provided him with their names, as well as diminutives that they encouraged me to use."

It was recommended that David's bed should be moved to another room. After this the visits stopped and never returned.

Only several years later did he find out what the doctor had told his parents:

"Years earlier, it seems, he (the doctor) had attended two patients in what was now our house, elderly sisters now long dead.  Not only had I described them in remarkable detail - their hair, their clothes, even the consumptive cough of the older woman - but I had given him their names as well as the pet names each used for the other. A mystery he called it."

But was it really such a mystery as David has been quoted as saying, "Reality, as we know it, is more, far more, than what we ordinarily perceive."

Good luck Symbols Really Do Work

Good Luck TicketThis post really follows on from Magic Talisman Attracts Money as it's about how scientists are proving that luck charms and beliefs really do work.

As in the post previously mentioned these findings came from the University of Cologne in Germany where Dr Lysann Damisch asked for volunteers to take part in experiments and to bring with them a lucky charm or lucky item. The results were reported in the Psychological Science journal.

The researchers wanted to see if there was any 'power' behind good luck symbols after noting how many sports stars were supersticious. Serena Williams will wear the same socks throughout a tennis event, Tiger Woods wears red on the last day of a tournament and Michael Jordan had his good luck underwear. There are many other examples.

One of the tests was performed on memory. Half of the volunteers had their lucky charms taken away from them. A memory test was then set up where the participants had to pair up playing cards. Those who had their good luck charms performed better than those who who did not. The researchers found that these people also felt more confident and set themselves higher goals.

Other tests showed that simply wishing good luck to someone improved the volunteers manual dexterity. They used the German 'Ich drucke meinen Dauman for Dich' which roughly translated means 'I press the thumbs for you'. It's the equivalent of the English crossing your fingers for good luck.

So it appears that making a talisman or carrying a good luck symbol will only do good. It's not the power of the actual item, it's the power behind the charm that works.

Florence Scovel-Shinn gives an example of this:

"I was with a friend, one day, who was in deep despair. In crossing the street, she picked up a horseshoe. Immediately, she was filled with joy and hope. She said God had sent her the horseshoe in order to keep up her courage.

It was indeed, at that moment, about the only thing that could have registered in her consciousness. Her hope became faith and she ultimately made a wonderful demonstration ... this woman recognised the power back of the horseshoe."
Quote from The Game of Life and How to Play It.

Ultimately it's all about belief, of course.

Good luck!
Mike.

Magic Talisman Attracts Money

loads of moneyOver the years I've dabbled in many things from yoga to Rosicrucians, magic to the occult, psychology to philosophy and so on. I've always felt there was something else besides what scientists tell us.

Since then we have both carried these money talismans in our wallets. They are looking a bit creased now but I wouldn't part with mine.
