Luxulyan Valley Combined Viaduct And Aqueduct

Icicles in Luxulyan Valley, Cornwall

A little off subject today! Some people say it doesn't get cold here in Cornwall, England - huh! It's bitter today, below freezing and there are even icicles hanging from the rocks and foilage at Luxulyan Valley, as the photo above shows.

Even though it's cold we still wanted to walk so we headed for Luxulyan (pronounced Luck-silly-un) Valley where there are lots of paths and also a very old viaduct and aqueduct combined crossing the valley.

Luxulyan Valley viaduct and aqueduct Cornwall

The viaduct / aqueduct is bigger than the photo above shows. It has ten 40' arches and from the base it is 100' high with a length of some 650'. It's made of local granite stone and the building commenced way back on the 15th of March 1839. This must have taken a lot of manpower with the stone blocks being raised up by only blocks and pulleys.

The construction was built for two reasons. Firstly to carry water across the valley. There is still water flowing across today. And secondly to transport granite - using horse carts - from quarries to the other side of the valley.

We climbed to the top and all that can be seen is what looks to be a pathway made of granite blocks. The water flows below this stone floor and glimpses can be seen in parts where the blocks are no longer close together.

The valley is full of water: a river and water flowing through a comprehensive leat system.

Near the valley, in the grounds of Prideaux, is a hill-fort at least 2,000 years old and it is believed there were dwellings in the valley in mediaeval times.

The White Dove As A Messenger Of The Dead

white dove coincidence

Dan left the following comment on my blog post Receiving White Feathers From The Dead. It's not strictly about white feathers - though it is in a way, but the feathers are still attached to a white dove.

Mike,

I have a story about a white dove if doves mean anything.

One day I came home from work and a white dove was perched on the steps that lead up to the front door of my house. No doves or birds of any kind were ever previously on my steps.

This white dove would not move to let me by. I made noises, waved my hand, stared at the dove ... nothing happened.

Finally I went in the back door of my house. I looked out the window and this one lone white dove was still on the front steps at 4pm and 5pm and 6pm.

At 7pm that night I received an urgent phone call saying my aunt had suddenly passed away that afternoon. I looked out the window one last time and the dove flew away never to come back at all on any day.

I dont know for sure if that means anything but I think it does.

Thanks,
Dan

I think that Dan's comment speaks for itself so I'll simply add three references to white doves.

~ 1 ~ According to Symbolic and Mythological Animals by J. C. Cooper, "The white dove is one of the most venerated creatures, symbolizing the spirit, the soul, bringing the spirit down to the earth and the transit between one state and another."

~ 2 ~ During the canonization ceremony of Christian Saints, white doves are released to represent the soul rising to heaven.

~ 3 ~ In Christian Iconography, a white dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit.

Two New UFO Photos: Are They Linked To Rendlesham UFO Incident

UFO sighting photo

Not sure what to think of these two photos of UFOs taken just 30 miles apart. They were both taken on the 6th of January this year.

The photo above was taken by Ernestas Griksas outside of his home in Chatham.

The second, UFO photo below, was snapped by Josh Cummins as he was driving to work at Loughton, in Essex. He told the Sun newspaper, "I nearly crashed. I stopped to take this picture with my mobile. It was like the UFOs were surfing the clouds. They were there for 15 seconds then vanished. I wasn't a believer in UFOs but this made me think again."

UFO photo

The two photos were captured approximately 75 miles from Rendlesham Forest which is sometimes talked of as the UK's Roswell.

The Rendlesham Incident took place outside of a US Air Force base at Woodbridge in Suffolk, England, shortly after Christmas 1980. Various lights were seen in neighbouring Rendlesham Forest by numerous servicemen, who investigated and found an apparent landing site.

This site was examined by the deputy base commander, Charles I. Halt, who took readings with a Geiger counter and was also witness to a flashing light in the direction of Orford Ness as well as star-like objects in the sky.

There is a famous memo by Halt, released in 1983, that told of his investigation. This is a copy of his words:

1. Early in the morning of 27 Dec 80 (approximately 0300L) two USAF security police patrolmen saw unusual lights outside the back gate at RAF Woodbridge. Thinking an aircraft might have crashed or been forced down, they called for permission to go outside the gate to investigate. The on-duty flight chief responded and allowed three patrolmen to proceed on foot. The individuals reported seeing a strange glowing object in the forest. The object was described as being metallic in appearance and triangular in shape, approximately two to three meters across the base and approximately two meters high. It illuminated the entire forest with a white light. The object itself had a pulsing red light on top and a bank(s) of blue lights underneath. The object was hovering or on legs. As the patrolmen approached the object, it maneuvered through the trees and disappeared. At this time the animals on a nearby farm went into a frenzy. The object was briefly sighted approximately an hour later near the back gate.

2. The next day, three depressions 1.5 inches deep and 7 inches in diameter were found where the object had been sighted on the ground. The following night (29 Dec 80) the area was checked for radiation. Beta/gamma readings of 0.1 milliroentgens were recorded with peak readings in the three depressions and near the center of the triangle formed by the depressions. A nearby tree had moderate (0.05–0.07) readings on the side of the tree toward the depressions.

3. Later in the night a red sun-like light was seen through the trees. It moved about and pulsed. At one point it appeared to throw off glowing particles and then broke into five separate white objects and then disappeared. Immediately thereafter, three star-like objects were noticed in the sky, two objects to the north and one to the south, all of which were about 10 degrees off the horizon. The objects moved rapidly in sharp, angular movements and displayed red, green and blue lights. The objects to the north appeared to be elliptical through an 8-12 power lens. They then turned to full circles. The objects to the north remained in the sky for an hour or more. The object to the south was visible for two or three hours and beamed down a stream of light from time to time. Numerous individuals, including the undersigned, witnessed the activities in paragraphs 2 and 3.

(Signed)
Charles I. Halt, Lt Col,
USAF Deputy Base Commander

Are the two UFO photos genuine? Could they be linked in some way to the Rendlesham UFO incident, even though now some thirty years later? As with all UFO stories it's difficult to answer with any certainty.

The Upside Down Map And How All Isn't As We Imagine

South-up or upside down map

I remember that when I was quite young I couldn't sometimes get to sleep because of a conundrum that kept going over and over in my head.

This is what I couldn't work out: If I dug a hole from England, where I live, right to the other side of the world, perhaps to Australia, would I come out feet first? And if anyone stepped into the hole in Australia, which I'd made, would they then come out first feet in England, or would they get stuck half way because of gravity? There again, when digging the hole, would the 'dirt' eventually start falling on my head? Luckily, soon after this, I began thinking about girls so it didn't seem such an unsolvable problem, relatively speaking.

There is so much of life where we often just accept how things are - like maps. Why is north always at the top of anything and Australia is 'down under'? Maps are artificial as, in space and the universe in general, there can't be a right way up. So south could be at the top or east or any point of what we call a compass.

Maps are most likely shown north up because Europeans did a lot of the explorations at that time using the north star and magnetic compasses. And besides 'we' wanted to be towards the top of the maps for image purposes. Though I have read recently that in the Middle Ages some maps were made with East at the top in homage to Jerusalem and Christendom. At the bottom of this post (south?) is a 14th century world map with Jerusalem in the centre and east at the top.

How we perceive the world and our universe in general is in a 'normal' way that has been taught and accepted. Sometimes though it's to good to try and alter our opinions of how things are. Or at the least challenge them to make sure they are correct. It's easier to go along with popular opinion, of course, but nothing new comes of this, and most of us seem to sense that there is a different 'way' out there waiting to be discovered or rediscovered.

The upside down or south up map was first produced by a student in Australia. Stuart McArthur was fed up with US exchange students laughing at Australia being at the bottom of the world. So he made a different version and, on Australia Day in 1979, he launched the South-up map similar to the one at the top of this post. See how New Zealand and Australia are also in the centre at the top of the maps as well.

Looking at something from new perspectives might just alter our individual worlds, and not only on maps.

Tecumseh And The Presidential Curse Coincidence

Tecumseh Shawnee Native American

I have written previously about Tecumseh, the Shawnee Native American, but I hadn't heard before about Tecumseh's curse.

Tecumseh died, or rather was killed, at the Battle of the Thames, on October 5, 1813. His death signified the end of united Indian resistance against the Americans. Since that date USA Presidents being elected in a year ending 0 (zero) would die in office - and it is this that is said to be Tecumseh's curse.

How does the curse stand up. Pretty good actually.

1840: This was the start of the curse in the election of that year when William Henry Harrison came to power and had the shortest presidency of any USA President. He was President for exactly one month and then died of pneumonia.

1880: James Garfield didn't do much better than Harrison as he was President for just 200 days. He was killed on July 2, 1881, as a result of being shot by assassin Charles J. Guiteau on July 2, 1881.

1990: The election this year was won by William McKinley for a second term in office. He also came to an unfortunate end. He was shot by Leon F Czolgosz, on Sept. 11, 1901, and died on Sept. 14 1901.

1920: Warren G Harding, a Republican, became the 29th President of the United States. On August 2, 1923 he suffered a stroke and died at the age of 57.

1940: Franklin D Roosevelt was elected for a third term as President in the 1940 election. This came to an end on April 12, 1945 when he died of a cerebral hemorrhage.

1960: The youngest US President, John F Kennedy, was elected and, as everyone no doubt knows, was assassinated on November 22, 1963.

1980: Now this is where the curse hopefully ended. Ronald Reagan, the oldest US President, won the 1980 election and survived to tell the tale. But in saying that, the curse had a good go at bringing his Presidency to an end.

There was an assassination attempt on Monday, March 30 1981. While leaving a speaking engagement at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C, President Reagan and three others were shot and wounded by John Hinckley, Jr.

Some say that Reagan survived because of his wife, Nancy's involvement with mediums and astrologers. Joan Quigley, an astrologer, supposedly pre-warned Nancy that March 30th was a day of concern and would be a bad day for Ronald - and it very nearly proved fatal.

So has Tecumseh's curse finally been broken? Was there ever one in the first place? Time will perhaps tell.

P.S. I've also seen Tecumseh's Curse called the Presidential Death Cycle and the Zero-year Curse.

The Angels Solution To Our Problems

photo of an angel

After my best friend of some 30+ years died his wife gave me some of his books. Amongst these were several from the Seekers Trust, often these included information on angels.

One of these publications, The Magic Of Angels, was written by a medium who received the teachings mentioned in the book through channeling a Dr.Lascelles.

I have no proof that channeling is genuine, but my friend did believe in such things and had no doubt that we survive Earthly death. He was a reflexologist and was once told that he had been some sort of healer in a previous life.

I picked up this book again, after I had been thinking about how different all our lives would be if we all believed in a God or Supreme Power and that we are immortal - but, as John Lennon wrote, we would also have to imagine no religion too!

As can happen when we are thinking about something I opened the book (p.176) and read:

"What if you really did believe that the room in which you sit was full of angels? ... Can you conceive it? Well it is a fact. Digest that for a moment and then think again - power is being poured down upon you and upon earth every moment of the day and night. All you have to do is ask for the help which is always available.

Once the immortality of man and his soul is established upon an indisputable basis and it becomes the rightful study of mankind there will be no barriers and the ugly world of divide and rule will be a thing of the past."

The Doctor, who was being channeled, said later on the page:

"Do not become bogged down in clever catch phrases, do not philosophise and pretend you know everything - you know very little and need to know little. What you need is to act.  You need to take the extended hand of help and friendship, which is ever awaiting your awakening."

And further on he continues:

"Help is there for the taking.  For a short moment pause and think how you would feel if the burdens which oppress you could be removed. Imagine how you would sigh with relief. Think how you would relax if you knew that your troubles could be taken from your shoulders simply for the asking."

The book ends with this sentence, "The guides or ministering angels, rendered service to Jesus because He knew of their powers. If you ask also, your ills will be healed."

As I was saying earlier: how different our lives would be if we all believed.
