White Feather Stories: Messages From The Deceased

White feathers falling

Two more white feather stories I received over the last few days - the author of one wishes to remain anonymous.

When my mother died, it was the worst moment of my life. I was in tatters and, as silly as it sounds, I couldn't believe that she had really died.

At the funeral I was in bits as we stood around mother's grave. As I looked down at the coffin a large white feather fluttered down and settled on some flowers, on top of the coffin. A good friend said, "Look your mother is thinking about you." I wasn't sure what she meant but somehow it was as if I had pulled myself together. I stopped crying and felt at peace.

Over the next few days I saw other white feathers and I believe they were from mother telling me she was alright and I should get on with my life.

A couple of weeks later, I saw a white feather while walking in the park, and picked it up. As I did so someone asked, "A message from a loved one?" It was a lovely looking man and, to cut the story short, we are now married. I believe my mother had a hand in this.

~ Heidi H

My stepfather passed away. He was cremated, and we had a church service for him.

In the limo on the way to the cemetery, my mother was seated in front of me and had her window opened. As we drove through the cemetery to his burial plot, a white feather came twirling down from the sky, through the opened limo window and landed right in my mother's lap.

My mother picked it up and threw it out the window as I gasped. I wasn't sure, and don't remember how I had heard about a feather being a sign from a loved one who had passed. I never said anything to anyone at the time because I wasn't sure.

If I told anyone now, they probably wouldn't believe me. So I just keep it between my stepfather and I. He must have wanted me to see it too.

White Feather Messages From Her Deceased Son

Today a further white feather story from a reader who wishes to remain anonymous. It shows how even skeptics can start to believe once they have experienced something personally. Hopefully the white feathers will have brought some small comfort for the writer, following the death of her son.

"Let me begin by saying that all of my adult life, I have been a hard core cynic, who believed that death was the end for us all.

When my son unexpectedly died from a seizure in September, 2011, I was thrust into deep grief. About six months after his death, I walked to my mailbox, which I rarely did at that time as my husband always brought in the mail when he came in from work each day. As I approached the mailbox, I saw a white feather lying neatly on the ground next to my mailbox. I picked it up and brought it inside, but thought nothing more of it.

That afternoon, as I was reading the posts of a grieving mother’s Facebook group, where there was an entry about feathers as a sign from deceased loved ones. Although I rarely posted on this page, I posted a note simply stating that I had found a feather near my mailbox that day. Later that same evening, my oldest son (also a hard core cynic), who lives 30 miles from me, called in amazement to tell me that he too had found a feather in his yard earlier that same day, but obviously had placed no significance on it, until he read my Facebook post. However, I still believed both feathers to be just some strange coincidence.

A few days later, as I was walking into my office building one morning, I found a feather lying next to the front door. I picked it up, brought it home and put it with the first feather I had found. Although I pondered the third 'coincidence' a bit more, as I had not found a feather in years prior to the first one, I still refused to place any other significance on them.

A few weeks later, I was leaving work late one afternoon, after having sat at my desk crying all day, missing my son so desperately. I walked to my car, unlocked the door and there was a feather in the middle of my driver’s seat.

Now let me add, that my car was in the parking lot, only a few steps from my front office door, right outside my one story office building. My car is clearly visible to me from my office window, where I had been sitting all day. After a few seconds of shock, I took out my cell phone and snapped a photo of the feather. I checked all my car doors and windows, only to find that my doors were locked and all the windows rolled up. Although I have tried to find every reasonable explanation as to how this feather could have appeared in my locked and closed car, I have yet to find one.

As an aside, I have had several other strange occurrences, since my son died, that had nothing to do with feathers, some of which are even more unexplainable. Believe me when I say that I was not expecting any 'signs,' given my hard core cynicism. While I am no longer a 'hard core cynic,' I am still a skeptic looking for answers, as all of my adult life I have searched for logical explanations for any 'other-worldly' events about which I have heard. But, I must say that from the numerous anomalies that I have seen with my own eyes, since my son’s death, I can find no such logical explanation for many of them. Yes, I was in very deep grief when these things occurred and many would say (as I would, had I heard of them from anyone else) that it was simply the imaginings and/or wishful thinking of a bereaved mother. But, again I was never expecting any of them and was shocked and even frightened by some of them.

While I still cannot say definitively how or why these things occurred, I can definitively say that they did."

The Guardian Angels From Somewhere

Guardian Angel

Here's a questioning small piece from 89 year old Coralie of Manchester that got me off on a disjointed train of thought.

"The idea of Guardian Angels is interesting, but why does 'religion' have to come into the equation?

"Should there be beings who look like us humans but have wings etc.? Here's another view.

"When we sleep, we leave our bodies and go - where? Into another dimension? Are we being shown what happens when we don't return to our bodies, when we 'die', for want of a better word?

"I'm quite sure that I've been watched and helped all my life. Everything I've needed - not wanted, but needed - be it good or bad, has been given to me.

"Who or what is doing this watching or guiding we cannot possibly imagine because we're only human.

"I've been near death many times, especially during the war, as we all were then. Perhaps we're being experimented with.

"I also know that I return to my somewhat ancient body every morning for some reason. I've lived almost 90 years, seen and done everything, so why do I keep returning? Maybe one day I'll find out."

I agree with Coralie that the subject of Guardian Angels is interesting. A recent survey by the pollster ICM recently found that 31% of British people - and 41% of British women - said they believed Guardian Angels existed.

Gemma Arterton
Gemma Arterton
We also have the likes of actress Gemma Arterton, Hollywood's Denzil Washington and UK television presenter Gloria Hunniford all saying that they believe in Guardian Angels. It's almost the in thing to be part of. Just look at how many angel tattoos are wobbling about on various celebrity bodies.

I've never personally seen such an angel - a real one that is - but I do have the feeling that I am sometimes looked after or helped along the way. Last year when I had kidney surgery it felt like I was being comforted prior to the operation. Karin couldn't believe how I was joking with the doctors and nurses and how relaxed I was. (It wasn't drugs!) Somehow I knew there was nothing to worry about.

I read a few days back that Gloria Hunniford claims to have a parking angel which helps her find spaces for her car. I've got one too! I wrote about this in a post How To Get A Car Parking Space Using Coincidences back in January 2011. It works along the lines of: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find ..."

Books on angels, such as Lorna Byrne's Angels In My Hair are big sellers. I believe it has sold well over half a million copies.

But what do those doubting Thomas experts say on the subject? Professor Of Psychology at Goldsmiths University says:

"A lot of these people are genuinely seeing these things. For example, mountain climbers who have lost their bearings sometimes report seeing a figure guiding them out of the danger.

It may be a psychological defence when faced with danger. Of course, we don't hear from those whose guardians led them off the edge of a cliff!"

Neuroscientists have tried to explain away visions of this nature. In 2005 Swiss researchers found that sending a small electric current through the left temporoparietal junction (a small area at the back of the brain which retains visual memories and sensory information) resulted in patients seeing ghostly figures.

Tibetan Monk
Brain scans taken of Tibetan monks showed mystical experiences tended to occur when sections at the front of the brain were very active, while those involved in navigation and spatial orientation were calm. This led to the assumption that there is a physical difference in the brains of those who experience such visions.

Going back to those celebrities who say they have seen or have a Guardian Angels. Believers often say that the vision ends with the angel passing on a message or sign in the form of white feathers. I've written many posts about white feathers.

Gemma Arterton has been quoted as saying that she has feathers which follow her everywhere.

The televison presenter and author Judy Finnegan says she found white feathers in her house, which she believes were evidence of her friend Caron Keating, who died of cancer, returning as an angel.

Those experts will claim that such phenomena simply reflect the human need to find patterns and significance in otherwise random events. Huh! I can disagree as I have seen white feathers over and over after the loss of loved ones.

It's up to us what we believe and sometimes I'm happy to look upwards and say 'thank you' following some help or even just for finding a car parking space. I must admit though I'm not exactly sure who or what I'm saying thank you to - but I feel it's a power for good.

White Doves As Messengers From The Dead

White dove a messenger from the dead

A post I published back in February 2012, The White Dove As A Messenger Of The Dead, has been getting quite a lot of views over the last several weeks. Here are some readers' responses.

"A friend of mine passed away about 15 months ago and died fairly young at 32 years old. He was hit by a car while walking home one day.

"Yesterday would have been his 34th birthday (7/1/13) and I posted a message on his Facebook page that went something like this: 'Happy Birthday! Please show me a sign that you have received this message.'

"As I was driving to work this morning a big white dove appeared out of nowhere. I thought I was going to hit the bird as it caught my attention but it swooped to the left and flew closely alongside me for a few seconds as I drove down the highway.

"It was there for a bit and then vanished as mysteriously as it had appeared. I turned my head to see where it was and quickly looked for it in my rear view mirrors but it was gone.

"When it disappeared the first thing that came to my mind was my friend. Yes it may have been a coincidence but I have never seen any doves in this town.

"It was the biggest dove I had ever seen. It was almost the size of a seagull but  it was definitely a dove and possibly a sign from my friend that he indeed had received my 'Happy Birthday!' message."

~ A.O.

"I think I was saved by an angel yesterday.

"I was riding bikes with a friend along the L.A river on a bike path and we stopped under a bridge. I saw a white dove fly and sit on a ledge under the bridge and was staring at me the whole time.

"That night I was getting a ride home and was in the front passenger seat and a car came flying out of an alley. I saw it happen in slow motion as the car almost hit the side I was on. At the last moment we swerved out of the way just before the car hit us.

"I don't know if the white dove meant something but I feel it was my Guardian Angel."

~ George Daniels

"My wonderful brother was seriously ill in hospital. We didn't know if he would survive.

"I had been at the hospital for most of the day, sitting holding his hand. It got late, I'm not sure exactly but it must have been nearly midnight and the nurse on duty suggested I go home. I didn't want to do this but she persuaded me to do so.

"As left the hospital I made my way to the car park and had to put some money in the machine. As I did so a beautiful white dove flew down and sat on the sign for the hospital. The car park was reasonably well lit so I'm sure it was a dove.

"After I had paid the car park fee I walked to my car and as I sat in the driving seat my mobile rang. It was the nurse saying I should come back to the hospital.

"As I reached my brother he actually smiled at me and then passed away.

"Later when I left the hospital again the white dove was still sitting on the sign. Though my husband says it must have been my imagination the dove seemed to look at me and then he flew away. I feel it was either my brother's spirit or some sort of sign from him."

~ Belinda Wilson

"My friend told me how her auntie and uncle were being harassed by a young, rowdy, anti-social drug dealing family and their customers living across the road.

"So I visualised the auntie's place guarded by two huge angels at the front door and two at the back gate. I placed an identical angelic quartet guarding the other hostile household on the principle that those who menace others often do so out of a deep seated fear of their own vulnerability.

"Anyway, by a curious coincidence white feathers started getting found round the house and things calmed down."

~ alanborky

In July 2008 my step father died of a very aggressive cancer, melanoma. A few hours before his death, I looked out his window at the hospice centre he was at and I noticed a few white doves near a base of a small tree.

After I left, a few hours later, I got a call from my mom that he had passed.

Later that evening I went for a walk with my family down the street, looked up and noticed a few white doves flying above me. To this day, I do not recall seeing white doves flying around.

I always wondered about this dove sighting experience. Just thought I would share.

Stories Of How White Feathers Comfort The Bereaved.

White feather comforting bereaved

It's back to white feathers comforting the bereaved today. Here are two stories I have received from readers. They both wish to remain anonymous.

My brother passed away 2 weeks ago aged 42 after only a 4 month battle with cancer. As a family we are grief stricken.

I mentioned to my parents about the white feather theory and last Wednesday a flower came up through their patio slabs with a white feather attached.

On Monday night, it was dismal and getting dark, I was feeling so upset when I happened to look out of the patio doors and a white feather floated down onto a planter.

Last night I was texting my brother's best friend, I suggested he look up the white feather theory online but didn't tell him we had seen any feathers. He visited my brother's grave today and beside the grave was a white feather.

Three coincidences in just over a week? We didn't go out looking for them and didn't really expect to see them but we did. They have provided some small comfort.

On February 15th my friend Katharine died unexpectedly. She was someone I had known for over ten years. Our children were about the same ages and we shared our parenting skills as well as our troubles. I felt empty inside when I heard of her death from her distraught husband.

The same night I had to go to a parent's evening at the school. I didn't want to go but thought I must carry on for my children's sake. As I opened the door of my car a fluffy white feather floated into the car and settled on the passenger seat.

After the parent's evening, when I got home, I found your website about white feathers on the Internet. All of the stories were incredible. As I turned off my laptop another feather settled next to be on the sofa where I was sitting.

Being honest, I don't know for sure the feathers came to me from Katharine but it made me think about lots of the good times we had together and I thanked her for her friendship.

White Feathers As Messengers From Beyond The Grave

White feather

The white feathers are still with us. Since I collated some of the white feather stories on 10 White Feather Story Posts As Examples Of Messages From The Dead I have received more experiences from readers. Here are a couple of examples.

White feather
"My beautiful mum lost her battle with cancer on 11th of February 2013.

I nursed her for five weeks and slept in the same room as her. Me and my dad were with her when she died at home in the bedroom my dad now sleeps in.

Mum always said she would let me know she was near and that she would wait for me in heaven.

I spend a lot of time with my dad at their home as I believe mum is there. Her ashes are there. I was upstairs in the bathroom and I held her dressing gown to my face and when I let it go a small white feather was on the floor. I cried my heart out as I knew mum had sent it.

The second feather was in the garden attached to my classroom. I am a teacher my mum also worked there. It was on my shoe as I looked down.

My dad does not believe in the significance of a feather. I've asked my mum to do something to show my dad she is here. They were together 53 years and he is heartbroken and not coping so I have asked mum to help him through the heartache."

Caron Keating
Caron Keating
There's a shop, Choccywoccydoodah, which has been featured on UK television and makes fancy, often expensive cakes, sometimes for actors and celebrities.

Their creative director, Christine Taylor, has been talking about some of the special cakes she has made including one for the singer Cliff Richard. He wanted an angel cake for the Caron Keating Foundation as a tribute to the late daughter of his friend Gloria Hunniford.

Christine explains: "There was something very special about that cake. Caron always told her friends they should think of her when they saw a white feather. Just after Cliff told me this a feather fell from the sky.

Then, when we delivered the cake, there was a hitch and one of the angel's feet broke, so I used the spare chocolate feather I had to sculpt a fresh one."

A Big Clump Of Feathers From The Spirit World

White feather a message from the dead

A touching, but nevertheless funny, story today from Ma61 following her reading about white feathers on this blog.

"I just stumbled upon your postings here, and this is ... a coincidence, or a synchronicity!

My dad passed away a few years back and we all miss him terribly. My two brothers and one sister keep a close eye on our mom now that dad is gone.

I just turned 50 and for my birthday my sister and mom decided we should go to New York as a "girls vacation" and I've never been there. My mom paid for the trip saying it was a birthday gift from her and my dad.

The first night there we went to see a show at the famous Radio City Music Hall. One of the scenes in the show surprisingly involved a character "flying" overhead and dropping of all things white feathers down on the audience. There was a problem however with the actor distributing the feather out of the bag, and they ended up coming out in a BIG CLUMP of white feathers all at one time ONLY on top of my mom, sister and myself!

It was quite a scene (and a mess!). We each took a feather as a momento of that time together. My mom does stained glass and as a humorous gift presented me a singe white feather encased in a bevelled glass display.

Now that I read this post (The Meaning Of White Feathers As Messages From The Dead), I think to myself how odd was that to have happened to us as though my dad was there with us giving us a huge clump/dump of white feathers!

I'll be forwarding this post on to my sister. She'll get a big kick out of it!"

The Angel Helpers And White Feathers

Angels Les Cloches du soir, 1891

An interesting story today by Ann from Merseyside, England that takes in angels and also white feathers - which I have written about often on this blog.

"I work and see angels.

After my first encounter in 1992 which took me on a path towards distance healing, until I later became a Reiki healer, all these people came and stood around the end of the treatment bed.

There were ladies seated in front and males behind: watching me at one point were 14 people. They all wore different colours and didn't have wings.

I know now they were archangels and ascended masters. At the time, I didn't understand what was going on and rang the spiritualist headquarters in London to ask for help. I was told I was the student and they were checking I did it right. They said I should ask them to go, which they did.

But now different ones come in as I work on someone - and I know what the person needs because of who they are.

I had done distance healing for a few years on one lady who was very ill but then gave her hands-on treatment.  She cried out and when I opened my eyes and asked her if she was all right, she said she'd seen the most beautiful white light (I see this all the time when I'm working) and the love that was coming from it was unbelievable.

I told her who was with her and she was very much comforted. When the time came for her passing, she wasn't frightened any more.

I attended her funeral, and was so happy to see her at the front of the church supported on the arm of her guardian angel.

The family was amazed because as she was lowered into her grave a white feather came floating down and landed on her coffin. All angels exist to help us: all you have to do is ask."

White Feathers From The Spirit World Stories

White feather from spirit world
A white feather I recieved
I have published quite a few posts (some links below) about white feathers and how I feel they can be messages or symbols from loved ones who have died.

Here are a selection of recent white feather stories I have received from from 67 Not Out readers. Most do not want their names published, but they are all genuine.

My dear husband, Gene, passed away December 2010,ever since then I have found white feathers.

My grandson and I were sitting in the same place my Gene and I would sit in Church and a white fluffy feather landed between us. In the Spring my son took me to a major league ball game and down came a white feather. And it goes on and on. I'm making a collection of them.

Just when I need a feather from Gene, down it comes. In my heart I know its the Lord and my Gene saying every things alright!

My wife's elderly father died last Thursday evening.

The funeral was this morning (Sunday). After the service, we proceeded to a nearby restaurant for a lunch get together for about twenty family members.

We parked the car, my wife and I were walking across an open air plaza to the restaurant. Half way there, a soft downy white feather came floating down right in front of us! It nearly landed on my nose! I commented to the wife, "Isn't that odd?" ... for it is rainy and blustery today (hurricane approaching) ... not a bird to be seen in the sky!

I thought about it afterwards so I Googled it and came to this site. I saw it with my own eyes, can offer no 'rational explanation' ... I am now sort of a believer!

John S

My father passed away unexpectedly while on holidays in New Zealand. My mother and both my sisters received white feathers within a two week period. I was devastated as I didn't then. Eight months and one day after dad passed, my feather arrived to me while I was at work. I found it sitting on a clients bed in the nursing home where I work and no, there aren't feather pillows or blankets in the place.

Love you dad and miss you.

Lisa

My mother died yesterday. She always believed in synchronicity.

She died in St Michael's Hospice but for many years St Michael had been significant to her.

I was trying to remember why this was and found your post regarding St Michael's chapel in Roche - a significant village for our family - and it's connection with Ley Lines. It fell into place and then I saw the link to white feathers, something she again always referred to as an indication of an angel. I wonder if I will come across one to let me know she is thinking of me.

Going through a rough time at the moment, and a few family deaths. Mum mentioned finding a white feather, "Auntie Phoe telling us it'll be all right". I smiled and said nothing.

I now keep finding one or two white feathers on a regular basis. Even looking after a neighbours house, on a repeat visit, two white feathers on the stairs, which I certainly hadn't seen before. They are a little comfort when I need it.

I have seen endless white feathers around me since my brothers passing 15 years ago. I didn't know why until I recently heard about it from other people claiming it could be from the spirit world.

Haven't seen one for a while until this morning. Having a few family health problems at the moment, and I drove into work this morning feeling very low and sad, and just as I opened my car door, a white feather floated onto my windscreen. It made me smile and helped me to get through my day.

Thanks bro x

White Feathers As Messages From Her Baby Girl

As regular readers know I have published several posts about white feathers and how for some, including myself, are seen as messages from those who have died. Here's a story from Kasey Logsdon who lost her baby girl, Khloe.

"In 2010 I gave birth to my angel baby Khloe Renee. She was perfect and the most beautiful baby I have ever seen, but a blood clot formed inside the umbilical cord causing her to pass away while I was 33 weeks pregnant.

I was completely broken and didn't know how I was going to go on with my life. While I was still in the hospital my dad was leaving, from holding her for the first and last time, and while entering the elevator he saw a white feather and picked it up and put it into his pocket

Later that night my mom called me at the hospital and said she had little white feathers all over her house and they were clearly not there before. I kinda believed her but thought she was mainly trying to make me realize Khloe is still with us

I didn't think much of it until the next day, when I was released to go home. My husband and I went to my mom and dad's because we were living there at the time. In Khloe's nursery there were around 10-15 feathers in random places in her room - and not normal feathers either. The tips are very soft, unlike pillow or bird feathers, and they are a very bright white.

I was amazed and so blessed my baby girl was home with me and I kissed every feather and put them all into one of the boxes from her room.

About a week later white feathers started showing up again. Like one time I was home alone, laid my phone on the table, went to the restroom and came back to pick up my phone. A feather was right on top of it.

The blanket Khloe was wrapped up in, when I held her, I had folded up into a zip lock bag because it smelled like her. I was crying and upset so I got it out and unfolded it and out fell yet another feather.

The first time I checked my FB after she passed a feather fell from mid air right onto my keyboard.

The list goes on and I still find them every once in a while but not as often. Every time I still kiss them and whisper, "I love you too Khloe."

Two months later, on what was my first Mother's Day, I found out I was pregnant. I now have a beautiful happy, healthy little girl who also brings me feathers she finds in her toy box."

~ Kasey Logsdon

Thank you Kasey for telling us your story.

White feathers after someone dies

On Wednesday I wrote about white feathers again in my post White Feathers As Contact With The Dead. As I have said previously I get more emails and the like about this subject than anything else I write about.

Below is a story I received following the mentioned post, the lady concerned wishes to remain anonymous.

"I heard about white feathers from a friend who had lost her Grandma. I thought it was nice that she believed they were a sign from the person who had passed away but I also thought, 'yeah right...'

Then I lost my Mum, I was devastated, she had been ill but we had been assured she was on the mend and I was thousands of miles away on holiday when she died. The guilt and pain were so incredibly hard to bear.

The first of my white feathers floated to the ground in front of my eyes one afternoon, not long after my mum died. It was a very still winter's afternoon and I was sitting in my garden talking to my husband about my Mum.

The second was on the floor just outside my back door.

The first white feather took my breath away, the second I looked at still in denial but starting to think maybe....

For two and a half years after this I still found the feathers every time I walked my dog regardless of the season, the weather, the time of day. I am in no doubt it was my mum saying its okay.

A few weeks ago I was packing to go on holiday. I had spent a sleepless night worrying about my eldest daughter who had gone to work abroad and seemed to be in with a bad crowd. God knows how she was surviving, and my youngest who I was leaving on her own for the first time.

I got up early to finish packing and there in the mesh inside my case was a perfect white feather. No way was it there the night before, the windows had been closed - it was inside the mesh.

It was my Mum telling me everything would be okay. I am sure of this. Suddenly I felt good again.

And funnily enough my youngest was fine while I was on holiday and my eldest is holding down a job, making her way, and earning enough money to live on - not sure what else she is up to - not sure I want to!

I find fewer white feathers now, but every so often there one is. And now I smile when I find one and say - 'Thanks Mum' x"

White Feathers As Contact With The Dead

White feathers as messages from the dead

I was Googling the words white feathers to check if any posts I have published on the subject have a decent ranking and I came across the following story on the Total Essex website.

Nicola Ford who lives in Hutton, Essex was telling of the recent strange happenings in her house. One of the things she mentioned was about how white feathers have been found dotted around her home and the smell of a perfume, that she doesn't use, often fills the air. This is something I can personally relate to. I remember how, after my dad died, I saw white feathers and could at times smell his special brand of tobacco - even though no one smokes in our house.

Many of the other things Nicola talked about were something completely different.

First her television switched on by itself in the middle of the night, a candle fell over mysteriously and a pair of glass angels in her bedroom rotated by themselves. She also sees shadows out of the corner of her eye.

I'm sure this would have given me the collywobbles but Nicola is calm about such happenings. Why? Because she believes it is her late mother, Hazel, watching over her.

Nicola told Total Essex, "I just think I've got mum letting me know she is about. The fact that mum was very spiritual and believed in spirits herself makes me think it is her. I find it comforting. It isn't malicious – it isn't as if I have things flying across the room trying to hit me. It is just things being moved."

Peculiar things, however, have happened to Nicola's son Robbie, 16, and her six-year-old white and ginger cat Fifi.

She explains, "When mum died Robbie had some quite negative experiences. He saw some quite nasty things in his bedroom like nan's face coming towards him and then turning into a scary face. As for the cat, she's always looking at or following something that we cannot see. What is happening here is paranormal."

What interests me in this story is the white feathers aspect, as they tend to appear over and over following a loved ones death. There are so many experiences about this, many I've published on this blog. Surely we can't all be deluded.

A Message From The Dead Via A White Feather

spiritual white feather

My wife and I were walking around Par Sands, a holiday park where we used to own two holiday caravans which we rented out.

It was a while back when we owned the caravans and inevitably as we walked round the park we got to talking about the 'good old days' when our children were little and my mum and dad and Karin's mother were alive.

There was one occasion we remembered in particular when Karin's mother was over from Germany and my mum and dad were visiting us as well from London. As it was out of the holiday season, along with the children, we all went to one of our caravans.

"Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could do that one more time," said Karin, "I hope they are all thinking of us still."

At that moment a big fluffy white feather - the one in the photo above - floated down in front of us. It's nearly six inches long so we couldn't really miss it.

As regular readers will know I've mentioned white feathers in several posts, and how they seem to appear as messages or symbols from our loved ones who are no longer with us. So when we saw this particular feather we thought it must be from one of the relatives we had been talking about. They are thinking of us still!

I know many mock such things and that's fine, but we found it comforting to see the feather float down before us.

The Great Unknown Link Between God And Man

I have written previously about how How The Ancient Egyptians Sent Letters To The Dead and also how The Magic Of Our Ancestors Can Bring Us Success. On a similar theme I came across the following which was channelled by a medium and are said to be the words of a Dr Lascelles. It illustrates how our loved ones are with us and may also be able to help us with our problems.

I'll say first that I'm an 'undecided' about channelling, mainly because I have never personally witnessed anything convincing. I still have an open mind on the subject. No doubt, when the time is right, I'll get my answer. In the meantime here's what Dr Lascelles has to say:

"... there is a third existence between God and man. It is the great unknown link.

Between God and man there exists a whole universe of life which is active, benevolent, creative and positively real.

The existence of this stratum between God and man has little to do with what people think religion is. It is just a fact, as it is a fact that there is life on earth ... they are there and that is that.

This strata of life which I am referring to is inhabited by beings who were once as concrete in their formation as you are now. Actually they are still concrete and visible to each other. It is only that they have passed out of the wave band of vibration which you can perceive. Those beings have all lived an earth life and have passed through what you like to call death.

The inhabitants are all those whom you tend to think of as dead. They are not dead, of course, far from it, but they have terminated their period of activity on earth. They exist in great numbers and live lives which, in many respects, are not unlike yours. There is one difference they are aware of you, and they are concerned with life as they once knew it on earth, but you are not usually aware of them.

The spirits of the dead do exist and offer constant help. But do not imagine they can be prayed to. They cannot. You must pray to God and God will answer your prayers through the inhabitants of the invisible world ... The spirits or angels receive their power from the source of all power just as you do, and they stand as a bridge between the ultimate power and you.

Their invisibility and their apparent non-existence in the normal way must not blind you to the reality of their presence."

The Doctor admits that many prayers are not answered. The technique, it seems, has to be learnt. He continues by saying:

"The Bible tells us to approach the Lord in calmness and confidence. In such a manner must we approach prayer ... It is not necessary to kneel in a penitent pose of sad commitment. The affectation of a 'religious' voice is of no help nor is one required to adopt a confessional attitude ... Sit comfortably and as far as possible in a relaxed position. Lie down if you feel better that way. Sitting, kneeling and standing expend energy. Power is required and an extra supply may be induced from a state of relaxation."

The doctor adds:

"Remember that we only retreat into the orthodox attitude to God and prayer because we fail to see, hear and feel the presence of angelic beings. Were we convinced that actual angelic beings accompanied us during the day and were at hand through all our sufferings, we should feel no need for formalised religious teachings. We would simply know and, in knowing we would be complete."

And that's it for today, other than to thank my good friend Colin, who died a few years back, for leaving me this and other information.

Her Guardian Angels Visited Her In Hospital

A very short story today about a white feather, but it is one that touched me greatly for some reason. It has a slightly differing slant from other posts I have done on the subject. Usually the white feathers seem to appear following a loved ones death - you will find quite a few such experiences on this blog. The following story, however, is different, as you will see. The writer wishes to remain anonymous.

"I just had a serious emergency surgery and felt as if I was all alone in the world.

After returning to my hospital room, about eight or ten hours after surgery, the nurse came to my room to check on me. She noticed a long white feather sticking on me under my gown.

After reading your blog I assume this meant I was not alone. My guardian angels: my deceased husband and father were with me.

Thank you."

And here is another comment, left on White Feathers Comfort The Bereaved
where the white feather may have been a sign from a Guaradian Angel, depending on your beliefs.

"We had a loose paling on the balcony of our two storey house, when our son was 2/3yrs old. We blocked it up, apparently not well enough and my son fell through and off the balcony. He wasn't hurt at all, but rushed him to the doctor's just incase. The only thing I found on him, was a perfect, tiny white feather stuck in his curls. I like to think his angel softened his fall. I still have that feather."

For those wishing more on the subject of how we can reconnect with those who have passed on to the other side I can recommend Trish and Rob MacGregor's book Synchronicity and the Other Side: Your Guide to Meaningful Connections with the Afterlife.

To quote from the introduction of their book:

"You'll see that the walls separating this world and the other side are not insurmountable, that you can obtain messages from deceased loved ones, that guidance can be found, that a larger picture of life and life-hereafter is readily available. In fact, the more contact you make, the more the so-called realm of the dead appears to be buzzing with life, potential, and promise."

Watching Over Us With White Feathers

White feathers

Today I'm back on the theme of how white feathers comfort the bereaved. This is Emma Dudley's experience - thank you Emma.

"I lost my nan suddenly in November of 2011, and have had many encounters of white feather prior to her death as well as after, but tonight was the most poignant of all showings.

I was sat in my bed in the dark watching television, when I saw something slowly drifting downwards in front of the screen, I got up to catch it and turned the light on to have a better look, and it was a white feather.

I must add, I do not open the windows in my room, as I don't like spiders, and have no feathers in quilting, pillows or anything else in my room. I placed the feather on my dressing table and went to tuck my son into bed. When I returned the feather was gone.

Some might say they are sceptical, but I had an experience several years ago when I was seriously ill in hospital with meningcoccul meningitis.

I was visited by a relative that had passed over several years before, and she stood watching over me for several hours. After she faded I began to improve, and am here to tell the tale today.

So I do truly believe there is someone or something to watch over each and everyone of us, and once in a while they let us know they are there to comfort us."

~ Emma Dudley

As I have said previously I get more emails and contact about white feathers than anything else I have written, including coincidences. All I can really add is that it does happen, regardless of what many sceptics may think.

The White Dove As A Messenger Of The Dead

white dove coincidence

Dan left the following comment on my blog post Receiving White Feathers From The Dead. It's not strictly about white feathers - though it is in a way, but the feathers are still attached to a white dove.

Mike,

I have a story about a white dove if doves mean anything.

One day I came home from work and a white dove was perched on the steps that lead up to the front door of my house. No doves or birds of any kind were ever previously on my steps.

This white dove would not move to let me by. I made noises, waved my hand, stared at the dove ... nothing happened.

Finally I went in the back door of my house. I looked out the window and this one lone white dove was still on the front steps at 4pm and 5pm and 6pm.

At 7pm that night I received an urgent phone call saying my aunt had suddenly passed away that afternoon. I looked out the window one last time and the dove flew away never to come back at all on any day.

I dont know for sure if that means anything but I think it does.

Thanks,
Dan

I think that Dan's comment speaks for itself so I'll simply add three references to white doves.

~ 1 ~ According to Symbolic and Mythological Animals by J. C. Cooper, "The white dove is one of the most venerated creatures, symbolizing the spirit, the soul, bringing the spirit down to the earth and the transit between one state and another."

~ 2 ~ During the canonization ceremony of Christian Saints, white doves are released to represent the soul rising to heaven.

~ 3 ~ In Christian Iconography, a white dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit.

The Angels Solution To Our Problems

photo of an angel

After my best friend of some 30+ years died his wife gave me some of his books. Amongst these were several from the Seekers Trust, often these included information on angels.

One of these publications, The Magic Of Angels, was written by a medium who received the teachings mentioned in the book through channeling a Dr.Lascelles.

I have no proof that channeling is genuine, but my friend did believe in such things and had no doubt that we survive Earthly death. He was a reflexologist and was once told that he had been some sort of healer in a previous life.

I picked up this book again, after I had been thinking about how different all our lives would be if we all believed in a God or Supreme Power and that we are immortal - but, as John Lennon wrote, we would also have to imagine no religion too!

As can happen when we are thinking about something I opened the book (p.176) and read:

"What if you really did believe that the room in which you sit was full of angels? ... Can you conceive it? Well it is a fact. Digest that for a moment and then think again - power is being poured down upon you and upon earth every moment of the day and night. All you have to do is ask for the help which is always available.

Once the immortality of man and his soul is established upon an indisputable basis and it becomes the rightful study of mankind there will be no barriers and the ugly world of divide and rule will be a thing of the past."

The Doctor, who was being channeled, said later on the page:

"Do not become bogged down in clever catch phrases, do not philosophise and pretend you know everything - you know very little and need to know little. What you need is to act.  You need to take the extended hand of help and friendship, which is ever awaiting your awakening."

And further on he continues:

"Help is there for the taking.  For a short moment pause and think how you would feel if the burdens which oppress you could be removed. Imagine how you would sigh with relief. Think how you would relax if you knew that your troubles could be taken from your shoulders simply for the asking."

The book ends with this sentence, "The guides or ministering angels, rendered service to Jesus because He knew of their powers. If you ask also, your ills will be healed."

As I was saying earlier: how different our lives would be if we all believed.

Receiving White Feathers From The Dead

white feather
I have written a few posts about White Feathers and how they may well be a symbol or a message from those who have died. From time to time I get stories from other readers about how white feathers have brought them comfort when they have lost a loved one.  Here are a few such stories, some of the writers wish to remain anonymous.

I have lost a close friend and had three funerals in the last three months which has been difficult.

After the funeral of the premature and sudden death of my friend, two feathers were on the floor of the car, no idea how they got there. Then a few days later, I was speaking with one of his other close friends on the phone. She was still in shock. I then left the house to go shopping and next to my car on the bush, there was a small white feather. It gave me comfort so I have it on my bedside locker now.

I am sure there is some link to the afterlife and this is a good one.

I lost my 21 year old son almost 2 months ago. He died after having a seizure in the shower.

Last night I was reading a book while having a bubble bath. I decided to finish the book in bed. When I opened the book, there was a big fluffy white feather on the very page I had stopped reading. I was blown away. I never took such things seriously before.

I cannot find any other explanation though, other than it was placed in a closed book by a spirit, my son's I believe.

Hi Mike:

I write because a friend forwarded your blog-link.

Funny, now that I'm 63 I can't remember when I started seeing the white feathers. [I've got a little homestead we call "White Feather Ranch."]

Anyway, my brother had committed suicide, our family was in pain and I think they probably started falling then and ever since they have just shown up and I've really never connected them with any particular event or thought that I can remember. [It is getting harder these days! My sisters may have a better recollection...ha!]

Anyway, I can remember sitting at a pool telling my sister about the white feathers when, out of the blue..ha, one floats down from nowhere. Yes, these are indications of some sort. Shall we investigate? Or, just let them underscore our delight! This is what I shall always do...delight in their existence in my life!

Hi Our baby girl was born sleeping last week and my partner just walked outside and a white feather flew down in front of him. I looked on the net and found your post, its lovely to think its her.

I'm a manual worker, a bricklayer, so I work in a hard environment. I only say this to show that I'm no tree hugging hippy.

My mother died of cancer. She was 58 and it hit me real bad. My brothers seemed to be able to take it in their stride but I couldn't and even went to see a medium. The problem was that I arrived at ma's house about half an hour after she had died. I got stuck in traffic but my brothers were there. They say that she asked why I wasn't there.

The medium played a guessing game and was no help at all. Then I looked at the Internet and came across this white feather business. This helped because I remember that the day after ma died there was a white feather on my tools at the building site. A big fluffy one.

After I read about this sort of thing happening on the Internet I've noticed and found lots of white feathers. There was one in my conservatory last night. I've no idea how it got there as all the doors were closed. I'm beginning to believe that these are messages from ma to say she's OK and she forgives me for not being with her when she died. I hope so.
