67000 Miles An Hour On A Journey To Nowhere

Here we all are on earth speeding around the sun, on what is basically a rock, at about 67000 miles per hour, while also doing a bit of a twirl. We look out into the sky and see thousands, okay millions or billions, of stars. If that doesn't stir our imagination then nothing will. What the heck is it all about?

Though many of us will disagree the scientists will say that our lives are but the blink of an eye and, once over, gone forever.

Professor Brian Cox tells us why this is. It's down to the 'Second Law Of Thermodynamics'. His words: "If you want to process information, if your brain wants to work, then you need an energy source. We put energy in by eating things. When you are alive everything works. When you die it's like pulling a plug out of the wall. The law says that everything tends to disorder."

The good professor also quotes 'The Law Of Conservation Of Energy', which is also known as the 'First Law Of Thermodynamics': "This states that energy can never be destroyed or created, I like to think of it as the reason why ghosts don't exist - this prevents 'spirits' leaving the body and floating round without any source of energy."

Okay we may disagree with him, but Professor Cox is an interesting chap. He used to play keyboards for the pop group D:Ream in the 90s. They had a number one single in the UK with Things Can Only Get Better. Since then he has moved on to a completely different life and has recently been working on the Large Hadron Collider.

He believes we will find microbes on Mars within the next 15 years, though they might not be similar to those found on earth. He says, "If it turns out that (life on Mars) evolved separately, and is very different, then I think that will be huge; probably the biggest discovery in human history. I do expect that will be the case."

As for the possibility of actual aliens he said, "You would think there must be ... because there are so many planetary systems and there has been so much time, then even if just one other civilisation has arisen, say a million years before us, the evidence should be there to see, it should be all over the place ... But we've looked and there's no evidence. I honestly don't understand it."

The good thing is that there is plenty of time left for the universe to reveal it's secrets. It will be around for many, many years: a number written as ten followed by 100 noughts. Unless, that is, we find that time isn't exactly what scientists think it to be.

The universe has been around for 11 billion years, it would be nice to know what it's all about before our eyes blink shut forever, as scientists predict they will.

Scientists get things wrong, of course - fortunately!

Secret UFO Files Released - Free To View

The UK National Archives have again released pages and pages of UFO reports - over 8500 reports! You can see these for yourself on their website here. I understand, however, that they will only be available for free for one month. It would be quite a time consuming slog to go through them all.

The sketch above shows what is purported to be a UFO flattening a cornfield in Oxfordshire, England and going on to create a crop circle. Note how it has the Egyptian symbol of life, the ankh, on it's bodywork. Truth or fiction? Who knows for sure but it was reported and recorded by Britain's Ministry of Defence.

The sketch below is another reported UFO this time in Scotland, which someone has taken a while to draw.


It's interesting that everyone seems to get the same basic letter in reply to their sighting - see below. Only the last paragraph differs which refers to the persons 'particular observation'.


There has only been one UK official government discussion on UFOs. This took place in a House of Lords debate and lasted for three hours. Nothing much came out of this - Lord Clancarty said there has been thousands of UFO sightings and mysterious visits but others said sightings were all down to 'natural phenomena'.

If you've got plenty of time there's lots to look through, though much seems to be pretty standard stuff, with no real outcome.

Ghost Of Virgin Mary Seen On The Cornish Cliffs

Well, whatever next? The ghost of Virgin Mary has been spotted on the cliffs in Newquay in Cornwall a few miles from where I live. Well that's what the newspapers and media are calling this 'vision' captured on a photo.

Personally I'm not sure why it's supposed to be the Virgin Mary. She looks more like an old fashioned lady carrying perhaps a lamp or even a beer tankard. Oh, and she looks to be pregnant.

But, whatever, the photo was snapped by Caroline Gray last month while she was on holiday in Newquay. She took the photo with her digital camera and later realised that there was a figure by the rocks.

When the photo was taken there was no one else on the beach. Perhaps it's a trick of the light? Caroline doesn't think so. She said, "Some people have suggested that it may be just a light reflection, but the sun was behind the rock face all the time and it would have filled the whole cave instead of just performing a perfect image.

The image was definitely not a natural part of the rock formation as it was not visible at the time."

I've tried to enlarge the image but it's very hazy so, if anything, more likely a run of the mill ghost. I'm sure the Virgin Mary would have put on a much more distinctive display!

The Telepathy Of Twin Coincidences

A couple of 67 Not Out readers coincidence stories about twins, both anonymous. I guess there had to be two of them - but are they really simply coincidences?

Telepathic Twin Message
My twin brother and and I have just turned 20 and people find it weird because he's a guy and I'm a girl. They seem to be amazed at how close we are.

When we were 9 years old my brother went to stay with my grandmother while the rest of the family stayed in the city for a couple of months. My father tells the story of how one night it was very quiet, when suddenly I woke up and wouldn't stop crying. It appeared as if I was choking but I wasn't.

No matter what my parents did they couldn't stop my tears and I kept trying to reach over to my brother's empty cot. My dad felt that something was wrong so he told my mum to ring up my grandmother to check on my brother.

My mum didn't really want to make the call so late at night but she rang my grandmother and my gran found that my brother (who has asthma), was in his cot, almost choking to death.

They rushed him to the hospital and thankfully he recovered. According to my father, it wasn't until my gran said the ambulance was there that I stopped crying.

My brother and I have a bond so strong that nothing can break it, we know what each other is thinking and we know when the other is in trouble. I wouldn't give up being a twin for the world.

The Twin Longing
When I went to junior school there was a friend, Jennifer, who kept on saying how she would have loved to have been a twin. Maybe lots of people think how it would be good to be a twin but Jennifer was obsessed by the thought. Sometimes she even pretended she had a twin and talked to her.

One day, when she was 7 or 8, she told her mother how she always wanted a twin sister. It was then that her mother told her she had actually been a twin, but her sister had died at birth.

The Unicorn The Virgin And Opening The Third Eye

The unicorn is usually thought of as a mythological creature, but could he actually be a symbol of the Third Eye?

Some will say that the Third Eye is also an organ of mythological history, the eye of Horus perhaps. But it is also a biblical eye: "If thine eye be single thy whole body shall be full of light."

Let's look at the unicorn. The white body of the creature represents the Etheric Body and horn is the organ of Etheric vision, which we call the Third Eye.

The unicorn in mythology can only be tamed by a virgin. Leonardo da Vinci wrote: "The unicorn, through its intemperance and not knowing how to control itself, for the love it bears to fair maidens forgets its ferocity and wildness; and laying aside all fear it will go up to a seated damsel and go to sleep in her lap." The opening of the Third Eye takes purity as well as discipline and control but, once tamed and activated, can change our perception of the world in which we live.

The unicorn is mentioned in the Bible several times, in Job 39:9-12 for example: "Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? Or will he harrow the valleys after thee? Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? Or wilt thou leave thy labour to him? Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it to your barn?"

We can interpret the above passage differently if we think of the unicorn as being the Third Eye.

Many see the Third Eye as the pineal gland or a chakra but this isn't strictly the case. In his book The Opening Of The Third Eye Dr, Douglas Baker explains: "The Third Eye is a vortex of energy, both positive and negative, receptive and donative, formed out of the joint interplay of the radiant energies produced through the simultaneous arousal of the thousand petalled lotus, the brow center, and the alta major center."

This post isn't a treatise on the Third Eye, there is lots of information on the Internet already. But just imagine if we could all tame and trust the unicorn ... or even perhaps trust a butterfly.


A Butterfly

The UFO Detector Appliance

I was sifting through some of the oddities that can be found on Amazon USA and came across a UFO Detector! I didn't realise such stuff was available, especially on Amazon, so thought it might be of interest to others.

Okay, if we look at the UFO-01 Detector - that's the picture on the right. And below is a description of the detector as per the Amazon website:

"Do UFOs; Unidentified Flying Objects exist? Of course they exist! UFO sightings are reported all over the globe by thousands of people. The real question is whether UFOs are interstellar vehicles visiting Earth? Most UFO sightings can be classified as misidentified aircraft, planets or other aerial phenomena, but not all of them. There is that small percentage of UFO reports that can't be explained by any known aircraft or natural phenomena. It is this small percentage of reports that create an exciting possibility. Over the years the small percentage of real UFO sightings have reported magnetic and electromagnetic disturbances. The UFO Detector is designed to sense these disturbances and will signal their presence by flashing an LED and beeping. The elegantly designed transparent plastic case is a handsome sculptured conversation piece that allows one to see the electronics inside the case. Suitable for display on a desk, shelf or bedroom dresser. Size is approximately 3" dia. by 2.75" length."

Okay, that's what it says but is it any good? I've no idea myself (I'm not recommending the item, this is purely written as information / amusement) but here are two opposing reviews on the UFO-01 Detector I came across. We'll start off with the good:

"I purchased this item and am blown away by its effectiveness. I started this device up and immediately detected not one, not two, but five separate UFOs in my immediate area. I am currently working on a way to communicate with what I assume is an intelligent species visiting our planet, but so far, I have been unsuccessful. I am waiting to see if this company will be selling a UFO communications device in the near future. If it is anything like this detector, I will be extremely happy. Thank you for a great product !"

And now a not so good review and yes, it is genuine! I haven't made it up.

"After my first abduction I sought out to arm myself with something that would prevent this from happening to me again. Alas, the UFO Detector. Since then my microwave, TV, radio, and cellphone have been causing the device to alarm several times, sending me in a state of panic where I'd hide under my bed for days. Next time it went off it was no false alarm. And I was, again, on board an alien vessel with probes hanging from every opening of my body."

But then I found that there is an (improved?) UFO-02 Detector! That's the photo on the left and below is a positive review on the product:

"I wasn't really sure when I ordered this if it was going to actually help me identify overhead UFOs, but by gosh, it does the trick. You see, I'm a taxi driver and as I drive people around I sometimes get these odd feelings, and I wasn't sure if it was that my passengers were creeping me out, or if some other sinister force was at work. I installed this on my dashboard, and as we approached EPCOT (A Disney theme park) this thing started to go off like crazy! Yes, the "Spaceship Earth" as they call it at EPCOT is in fact a real UFO. As a nation, we have been led to believe that Disney is all about make-believe and fairy tales, but I tell you folks, WATCH OUT! I can't wait to take this with me when my family and I head down to area 51 this summer. Any other ideas of places I should check out?"

Amongst the Amazon oddities I also found other UFO orientated products such as the Roswell Soil Sample and the, erm, Area 51 Love Doll. Guess we all have our fantasies!
